joe & jakeUnited Kingdom – This year the BBC put the UK Song Selection into the hands of the public. Joe & Jake were the ones selected and they will be headed straight into the Grand Final with their song “You’re Not Alone”. Will the UK make the Top 10 with the public choice?

About Joe & Jake:
Joe & Jake are Joe Woolford and Jake Shakeshaft. They both met on The Voice UK in 2015 after competing solo on the show. They became friends during and decided to join forces soon after and they are now signed to the Sony label.
Joe is a singer, song writer and rapper who made it to the live shows on the Voice as part of Team Rita Ora. Jake is a singer and also plays guitar. He joined Team Will.I.Am but only made it to the Knockout Rounds making him the least successful of the two on the show.

Joe & Jake beat five other acts in the UK Selection show Eurovision: You Decide including fan favourite Darline. They intend on using Selfies in the back ground for their performances and already have one with Hugh Grant, Graham Norton and Meryl Streep in it. The UK are not a favourite to win in May and the bookies have them 28th Favourite to win (even though they have gone up slightly)

  1. Good luck UK … you’ll need it … and a lot of luck you’ll need.
If I was a betting man, I would put a fortune on the UK coming last out of the BIG5 and bottom 5 in May. :(

  2. Not a good day to talk about the UK entry after all that’s been going on today really…

Joe and Jake are likable young men with a genuine enthusiasm for music but they represent more of the same when it comes to the UK’s esc approach. The song is subpar and so are their performances.

    Good luck !

P.S. Oh gosh Denmark and Switzerland, the 2 most undeservingly bashed entries this year coming one after the other in the spotlight articles :-\ ? I guess I ll need to be around to defend them :-D

  3. They’re both like “aww cute” without being actually nice looking… it’s very lame and harmless, and very a decade too late… except for juries, televote always ignores these harmless tunes and they might be dead last in televote except for Malta’s and ireland’s “friendly” votes (oops, we’re not supposed to tell Brits they too get unfair points from friends, like last year when they were outside of the bottom 3 thanks to those points)

  4. I think we had good songs to choose from. We’re Joe & Jake the best? No but this song is okay. It’s certainly not bad is it.

They seem like nice lads as well. I hope Lynn can talk to them at the London party tomorrow

  5. One of the best efforts of the UK in recent years. Its modern and fresh. It totally represents the music of Britain and its modern charts. Also the lads are young and charming. I see that they come from the The Voice just like some of the other countries’ representatives. FYI, they are working with stage director Jay Russell who’s worked with Ella Eyre and Ellie Goulding. Wow BBC are definitely putting a lot effort this year!

  6. The composition could have been done by Gary Barlow to Take That’s big comeback album as a man band. With the superb soft rock production by John Shanks it could have ended up as fourth bonus track on Beautiful World. As it obviously isn’t it will end up in the bin called bottom 5.
It’s not all bad. Lads are cute.

  7. JJ do their best with a harmless song. Their live renditions have not been very reassuring though. Good luck.

P.S. – The UK should have gone with that lady in red whose name I can’t remember.
