Lyrics:
(Taken from Eurovision.tv)

Soldier, take off your armour
Show me your heart, this is home
And it’s stronger, stronger than water
Deeper than reason, longer than time

Here we are at the end of the movie, I’ve never felt more alive
It’s time to rise
We’re the last of our kind

It’s a whole new world, and we’re facing the fire
Not afraid of our own ghosts,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind
and we’re all that we know
And we’re out of our minds
Not afraid to be brave though,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

The Last Of Our Kind
The Last Of Our Kind
Not afraid to be brave
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

This is paradise, turn off the searchlight
We’re where we belong.

Standing tall at the end of the story,
Watching world’s collide
It’s time to rise
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

It’s a whole new world, and we’re facing the fire
Not afraid of our own ghosts,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind
and we’re all that we know
And we’re out of our minds
Not afraid to be brave though,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

Here we are now, with nothing to lose
I know without love, we won’t pull through, oh
Cause deep in the night, there is a light
And it guides us to truth.

It’s a whole new world, and we’re facing the fire
Not afraid of our own ghosts,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind
and we’re all that we know
And we’re out of our minds
Not afraid to be brave though,
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

The Last Of Our Kind
The Last Of Our Kind
Not afraid to be brave
We’re The Last Of Our Kind

  1. Last of our semi ♪♪♪♫♪

  2. Andd..The most unfairly drugged to the mud act this year is on.

Switzerland keeps delivering great music consistently to the contest over the last years and is definately one of the most interesting countries in esc these days. From indie (2011) to folk-ish sounds (2014) to contemporary edgy pop this year they offer variety without making expenses to quality.

Rykka and “The last of our kind” is just another great swiss addition to esc, if not their best one till now. She is a magnificent, versatile artist and her musical inspirations like Madonna snd Bjork definately show. Her awkard, cold stage demeanor combined with her distinctive, interesting voice provide a definite edge to her performances. I really want to listen to some of her more folk stuff and I m looking for them but her pop endeavors are truly great and “The last of our kind” is a worthy representative of her as an artist I feel. I like the way the lyrics deliver the message of lack of emotion and passion in our times, they are very intelligently written and I like the music combined with them. The overall package is one worthy of a very high placing in esc but for now and given it is Switzerland I will be happy with Rykka proving wrong thosr ridiculous betting odds and qualifying.
To me this is such an obvious qualifier in a contest that is on track to restore its musical credibility that I cant see a way it can miss it honestly.

I said it many times but I will say it again : the fact that the contest can finally attract artists like Rykka, with those musical influences and that musical perspective shows that something is done right finally. I hope that it is appreciated enough !

Good luck Rykka and thank you :-) !

P.S. For every “she cant sing” obsurd comment here I will be giving Rykka an extra vote in semi 2 through my belgian cell number :-)

  3. This is the best song ever and I am sure it will win eurovision. Also Rykka is an exceptional good singer.

  4. Hello from Berlin. :)
Well, what can I say? Hopp Schwiiz!

  5. Rykka does her best with this below average song; the problem is that her best is also below average. Good luck.

P.S. – She still sounds better than Freddie, for example.

  6. The song is not that bad…It just needed a better singer
    Antalya good luck :)

  7. ouch! to some comments these days! (above)..would agree with the majority that it’s just a middle-of-the-road typical ESC filler song that I neither like nor dislike, thus it it is doomed to obscurity in the vaults of ESC history, never to be remembered , my prediction is that it will do better than Switzerland 2004 at least..

  8. I’ll try to be nice:
Pros: The verses and the lyrics
Cons: The really underwhelming, repetitive chorus and sadly Rykka herself. Not ony she isn’t a good singer she also is so uncharismatic on stage.

    • contuining with your niceity (?) I agree, it’s not the song so much but the singer, like Switzerland 98 in my mind….that poor girl who got tomatoes thrown at her around Switzerland (sob!!)

  9. What’s the thing with Switzerland and Canada in Eurovision?!

  10. Well, the song has nice verses and an awful chorus: problem, Rykka who is an averagy singer struggles most with the undertone and quiet singing in the verses, and is shouty but acceptable in the very lame chorus, so all in all it makes for three painful minutes. Add to that she’s an awful performer without any charisma, and it’s in my bottom 5 prior to esc.
