The host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 is Düsseldorf!

The Venue: Esprit – Arena

The Esprit-Arena was opened only in 2005 and can hold 51.000 people! Events hosted : Catholic World Youth Day, Games of the German national soccer team and Fortuna Düsseldorf, a variety of concerts (Madonna, Phil Collins) and the TV total stock car crash challenge 2008 (organized by Stefan Raab)

Rent of 1 Euro

German broadcaster NDR will not have to worry about renting the venue. According to “Der Western”, the hall will cost a symbolic 1 Euro! According to the mayor of Düsseldorf Dirk Elbers, they are expecting 140 million euros of revenue due to the Eurovision Song Contest, which will cost about 25 million.

The city offers 23000 hotel beds and hotel ships on the Rhine. The airport is very close to the venue and an athletics venue right next to the Esprit-Arena can be used as the press center for over 1500 journalists. A couple of experts had shown their admiration at the technical possibilities of the Arena.

Düsseldorf  is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and center of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. Modern Düsseldorf is an important international business and financial centre and also renowned for its fashion and trade fairs.Culturally, as a city by the River Rhine, Düsseldorf is a stronghold for Rhenish carnival celebrations. Every year in July more than 4.5 million people visit the city’s Größte Kirmes am Rhein funfair.

Even though only among the ten most populous cities in Germany by population within city limits, Düsseldorf ranks as one of the country’s five global cities. Düsseldorf has over 530.000 inhabitants!
