Hungary: Semi-final 2 Tonight!

HungaryHungary – Tonight sees semi-final 2 take place in Hungary’s national selection A Dal. 9 more acts are battling it out to secure the last four places in next week’s national final.  You can watch tonight at 20.15 (CET) here. Check out who is still in the competition. In each semi-final, the jury will first choose two finalists. The televoters will then select two more qualifiers out of the remaining seven acts. Yesterday the two acts chosen by the jury were András Kállay-Saunders and Gergő Rácz. Ildikó Keresztes and Laura Cserpes qualified via the televoting.

The jury includes Magdi Rúzsa (2007 Hungarian Eurovision representative), Philip Rákay (director of M1 and M2), Viktor Rakonczai (1997 Hungarian Eurovision representative as a member of the band V.I.P), Csaba Walkó (lead singer of Compact Disco, the 2012 Hungarian Eurovision representatives) and Jenő Csiszár (TV and radio host).

During the heats, previous favourites of the jury included Szilvi Agárdi & Dénes Pál, Gigi Radics and Gergő Baricz. Tonight they must choose 2 only. Who do you think they will support in this semi-final?

Tonight’s line up for semi-final 2

United – ‘Tegnap még más voltál

Tamás Vastag – ‘Holnaptól

    • Thank you for your report! I’ve been off for a while and I’m glad to see that you have written down the jury scores. I listened to ByeAlex in the recap and I must say it growed on me just during those 15 seconds. I hope he’ll make it.

Sigh, I must get to bed soon if I’m supposed to make it through the whole night…

  1. So, the jury sent through safe and generic ballads. The last time Hungary sent a safe and generic ballad to ESC, they got last place in their semi (and I’d like to say now that I loved that safe and generic ballad).

  2. Tamás Vastag was originally number 4 on my list (7/10), but the song has grown some more on me, so now it is on my second place with 8/10, which means that both of my top 2 favourites (Gigi Radics and Tamás Vastag) actually went through :-)

Now I hope that my 3. and 4. favourite (Szilvi & Dénes and Veca Janicsák) will qualify, too.

        • Who knows, the judges have been changing their scores all the time so their votes can change in the final. All depending on how tactical they want to play…

            • Tactical because they change scores from show to show… so they could give less points to ByeAlex or other contenders on purpose to keep them out of the superfinal so they have no chance of winning. So maybe their favorite will have a better chance. I don’t trust them at least.

  3. I hope ByeAlex will win in the end… It wasn’t my favourite song of all Hungarian entries, but it is the only song that stands out among the finalists now + it is the only chance of getting a song that MIGHT stay in Hungarian at ESC.

  4. ByeAlex should win but they set the final up so that unless you’re one of the jury’s favorites you can’t win :/. Unless the jury votes drastically changes in the final it’ll probably be down to the 4 jury qualifiers.

  5. Gigi is Hungary’s best chance! No offence, but don’t understand why everyone likes ByeAlex it’s really boring and wont do well with juries because it’s very bland imo. GIGI FOR THE WIN!

  6. OMG you can check my first comment in this article and i was totally right!! I predicted everything, only Fatima Mohamed, but I wrote as well that Bye Alex has chance with televoting!

    Keresztes ildiko FTW!!
