The way Swedes are treating to Greece (a bookies favorite) is unfair but I’m not surprised as they never voted for any of our recent top 10 entries (not even Amanda! with a song clearly up their valley).
Of course it’s not only about Greece but all Balkans in general
First semi: It is easy to spot the doomed ones in the first part, because of they kill all the fun, but then the second half is an absolute mess.
Second semi: Czech Republic’s sandwich makes me believe they will break the record of lowest amount of votes ever :P The songs fitting in the category of “pretentious” and those in the “trashy party” make it much more interesting and open than the first semifinal. I also felt Norway is with one foot in ICU.
Overall I feel those that were dead from the start aren’t helped by the draw, but some countries struggling recently aren’t helped either. In any case, I think the draw is more important in the final, the qualifiers are mostly decided by the fandom.
The lowest amount of votes ever is 5 televote for Switzerland from Sweden in Eurovision 1997. Which is a shame coz I actually like “Dentro di me”, way more than Blonde’s awful entry at least lol
“Pedestal” live is so awful (probably the worst live to ever win a NF, probably a bought victory anyway) that I think it’ll really help CHE come off as super professional in comparison, unless they really mess it up too
But I feel you have to come up with a fanbase ready to vote for you in the semis, the only act that comes to my mind coming out of nowhere is The Black Mamba. Yes, the performance will improve, and she will return happy to her home…
True, fanbase is the most important in the semis, but a great live is where you start your esc journy to a surprise good result, like NL 2014 or to a lesser extend Ireland 2018!
