France -The French daily “Le Parisien“, which announced Amaury Vassili’s participation long before the official confirmation by France3 has today reported on more background information concerning the French entry. The young tenor will sing a song entitled “Sonniu” which is Corsican for “dream”. “Sonniu” was composed by Daniel Moyne and Quentin Bachelet and written by Jean-Pierre Marcellesi. The song is a Bolero that goes crescendo and is said to perfectly suit the voice of Vassili. Even tough a French version exists, the song will be performed in the Italian dialect spoken on Corsica. The song was recorded last week and is not part of Amaury’s latest album.
“We wanted a young person who represents at best the excellence of French music,” explained Pierre Sled, the director of programming at France 3. “We realized very quickly that a lyric singer was the most noble expression. Amaury is an angel of music with a golden voice. We didn’t hesitate for a long time. Even more so as the other submissions did not represent the expected result, as Emma Daumas, former participant of “Star Academy.”
“Our aim is very clear,” added Sled. “France 3 is the channel of the French regions. We thus wanted to do them justice. And as Corsican is very close to Italian it will suit an opera song very well. “
The Eurovision Times 
Ok the words Tenor, bolero, crescendo and Corsican tell me that France won’T be in the Bottom 5 this year (we have juries after all)
agreed, but will it get any televotes apart from Armenia, Italy and San Marino? will Romania very italian friendly go for it? and people abroad in general?
bolero is a fun and fine idea, meaning it won’t be popera but im still nervous about the outcome… this sounds a lot like a good idea that ends bottom 5
Why Armenia exactly?
France-Armenia are absolutely friendly, we used to take care of them and Lebanon in middle-east earlier in the last century and a lot of Armenians live in France now (including famous singer Charles Aznavour)
haven’t you noticed that back in the 100% televote France gave 12 to Armenia and Armenia was the only country to still vote for us?

it’s a very old history of France and England in Middle-East, but England didn’t stay close to them while France did, still today (more like Turkey-Germany even if that one is not related to colonization at all but of world war II rebuilt in the 50s & 60s)
well im not shore that type of artist could win eurovision as its not everyones cup of tea but im shore the uk will score high as that type of music is liked plus i think it will go down well with the judges, i did like there last entry last year i thought it was verry fresh and fun :)
from france ,france always gives 10 or 12 points to armenia even if armenian song is bad.
thera are a lot of armenians in france who vote for eurovision and the french jury is composed of persons with armenian origins so it’s very easy to undertand.our jury is not fair.so don’t matter the song the french votes always go to armenia .you can verify these past years and you will see it’s true .this year armenia will obtain 10 or 12 points for sure!
last year france gave 12 points to armenia and no points for germany;starnge isn’t it?
from france ,i don’t like at all the german song this year.france rarely gives points to spain even if we are neighbours but this year the spanish song is very fresh .i like it a lot
