Not only will the show select the new “Idol” winner, it will also select the Georgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, to be held in Tel Aviv. Three songs, all in Georgian, were short listed by the broadcaster. Now, all four finalists got one, so one song was given to two finalists.

  • Giorgi Nakashidze Sul Tsin Iare
  • Liza Kalandadze Sevdisperi Zgva

The juries are: Tinatin Berdzenishvili (GPB director), Zaza Shengelia (president of a record studio), Stephane Mghebrishvili (musician and singer) and Natia Todua (The Voice Germany winner). 1. Anyone have any idea what the titles mean? Sth. potentially interesting or the usual generic casting show lyrics like “Reach for the stars” and “We are one?”

  2. Giorgi Nakashidze – Sul Tsin Iare: A ballad about war and occupation with an appropriate military procession-like arrangement.Dark with the Georgian flag in the back. It’s nice enough.

  3. 1. Giorgi Nakashidze – Sul Tsin Iare : First of all he looks like Colin Farrell. Song is dramatic and I have the slight suspicion it talks about how great Georgia is. It could go both ways. I think it’s memorable but never takes off.
    7-/10

  4. 2. Liza Kalandadze – Sevdisperi Zgva. A haunting ballad with jazzy elements. The way she performs, it reminds me of Dimitra Galani (Greek singer). This is good ! 8/10

  5. Liza Kalandadze – Sevdisperi Zgva: She’s good but i don’t know if this dramatic ballad would be a good esc choice.I think she’ll win based on her popularity and not because id the song.

  6. #2 it is obvious that she is the favorite…she is fine, the song is also dramatic enough..thinking the fact that Georgia is in easier semi, they can be in the final with this song

  7. So 4 songs, (well 3 songs 4 performances) this should be over fairly soon right? Georgia isn’t Mediterranean so won’t feel the need to fill an hour with the hosts talking hopefully we’ll be done with Georgia before Serbia starts :)
