Israel: Former Kdam entrant Chen Aharoni in UK’s XFactor


Chen AharoniIsrael – Eurovision fans were pleasantly surprised to see former Kdam entrant Chen Aharoni appear on the UK’s XFactor last night. The Israeli pop star, who has had success in his own country, was successful in his first audition. 

After impressing the judges (Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Sharon Osbourne) viewers of the XtraFactor show saw Chen qualify for the next round. He must now perform in front of a live audience of 4,000 people. Watch his audition:

Chen became known in Israel after taking part in 2007 in season 5 of Kokhav Nolad (in Hebrew כוכב נולד meaning A Star Is Born) structured on the international Idol series. He was eliminated after a showdown with Shlomi Bar’el before the finals.He finished 4th overall.

On 8 March 2011, Chen Aharoni took part in the Kdam Eurovision selection contest finalsfor the Israeli entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 Düsseldorf, Germany with the song ‘Or‘(in Hebrew אור meaning Light) written by Sahar Hagai and Nitzan Kaykov finishing fourth with 142 points, with Dana International winning the contest with 270 points with ‘Ding Dong‘.

He has had several number 1 singles in Israel.

  1. Chen is a talented singer but unfortunately, he hasn’t come up with anything special yet. All his songs are terribly generic and instantly put me to sleep … Zzzzzzzzzz

  2. Loved his 2011 attempt.
    The audition wasn’t like the best ever but he would totally deserve to go through.
    But I’m pretty sure Britain won’t see him performing in live weeks of the competition.

  3. His 2011 attempt was a lot better than Dana International’s winning song, but considering that that’s not much of an accomplishment, that tells you nothing.

  4. I liked his audition.A nice performance.I also quite liked his 2011 entry but the live performance was really bad and messy.In the recent year,Israel tends to go for the wrong song IMO.Apart from 2008 and 2013 that is.Of course,Kathleen Reiter would have been a much better choice overall…
