Eurovision 2012: Crystal Hall Nearly Ready

Baku – New video footage has been released today showing the finishing touches being made to the Crystal Hall’s exterior in Baku. The venue for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest final should be ready soon. The press centre is also taking shape nicely. The Crystal Hall is a brand new multi-purpose indoor arena with an expected capacity of up to 23,000 spectators.

Approximately 16,000 people will be able to attend each of the three Eurovision Song Contest live shows in May. Check out the videos here:

  1. Sorry guys, I’ve been very busy at work this week :L I’ll try and do lots of articles over this holiday weekend for you to discuss! I heard from Manuel, he’s alive, but very busy too at the moment.

The press conference area looks very uncomfortable? I hope there’s lots of comfortable break out coffee areas as well as the long tables to work at, like here was last year, where you can just mingle and chat and sing with the artists.

Eurovision Times has been given a press pass so I’ll be bringing you lots of news from Baku :)
(Yes, we have a hotel too!!!)

Who do people want me to try and interview??

      • Or Thomas G:son!! He will be in Baku or not? I’m not sure if there is a rule that composers must be in ESC… in Belgrafe in 208 I think all composers were here..

Hahahahaha now I remember, who will interview Buranovskie babushki??!! LOL

        • And I saw Mira Craig in 2008 in Belgrade as composer for Norway!! YAAAY! :D But I didn’t see Hanne Sorvaag and she also was here as a composer for Germany!! :(

    • Since a vast majority of the regulars on the site love Rona’s song, she might be a good option. Hmm… I like Marko’s suggestions of Ott and Gaitana. Valentina seems nice enough, but I wouldn’t be able to take an interview with her seriously because of her song. It doesn’t hurt to try to interview her though. I know she’s pretty active with people and even has her own Facebook page that you can friend.

I’d personally think an interview with Kaliopi could be fabulous, and an interview with Soluna Samay could be pretty good as well.

I’d pretty much like an interview with every artist, but these are the top tier, so I’m going to stop now. xD

      • I agree on Rona. She is very popular among members of this site and probably won’t be in the focus on other sites. And then I would love interviews with my other favourites of course … Maya, Gréta & Jónsi, Izabo, Can and Nina Badric. Italy, the UK and Ukraine could be interesting too.

      • You don’t want with Buranovskie Babushki??!! :O LOL
Or maybe they don’t wsnt to give inyerviews like 2007 russian representataive Serebro who thought interviews willbring them bad luck! Lol

        • No, I am not particularly interested in a BB interview because it would probably be part of the cute grannies from a remote village gimmick and thus terribly lame and predictable. But I forgot Kaliopi, I have really enjoyed all her interviews in the past. This lady knows how to talk about music in an intelligent and interesting way. :)

        • I don’t think it’s so much that I wouldn’t like an interview with the grannies so much as I think that they probably aren’t skilled enough with English to give a competent interview in the language. Same with Pasha Parfeny and a couple of the other artists.

Although, I didn’t realize that about Serebro. How silly. xD

          • They will bring translator for Udmurt language 100% to Baku! :D
Serebro closed doors for all journalist in Helsinki, but they were in all parties and happenings before esc.. :D

            • I agree! :) Well, I read somewhere that they were working on their English, but it’s not going to be proficient after a few months of English. I’ve been working on learning German for almost a year now, and I still feel like I can barely make proper basic sentences. xD Maybe I’m just bad with language though.

I wish I was a fan back in 2007. I think 2007-2009 were the golden years of the contest during the time when I could have actively followed it.

    • I’d like to see an interview with sweet Joan and, IMO, the most interesting entrant this year – Rambo Amadeus! lol. I hope someone interviews Litesound and ask them why the hell they destroyed their song for!
