Željko Joksimović: “Loreen’s Song Is Like A Hip Cocktail”

Serbia – At a small press conference after the Eurovision Final 2012, Željko Joksimović talked about his future plans concerning Eurovision and his two nearest rivals for the Eurovision crown. He told the press, that he thought his song was like a good old wine, while Loreen’s winning entry was like a hip cocktail. He added that the cocktail’s win was deserved. About the Russian grannies he said that they were more of a stunt than a song. Joksimović affirmed once again, that his performance in Baku was his last Eurovision entry as a singer. However, if the right song and artist appear, he would still consider entering the competition as a composer.

Željko Joksimović came third with his entry “Nije ljubav stvar”:

  1. After Zeljko had finished his performance in the final, our commentator Peter Urban said. “This guy is simply pure class”. What he said on Loreen and the Babushki proves this once more.

  2. For me both a hip cocktail and an old wine can be enjoyable; in the case of Lorren and Zeljko, I slightly prefer wine (my #11 this year), to cocktail (my #17). Well, actually I always prefer wine to cock tails :P :D

  3. In the meantime, sad news keep coming in from Emilia Romagna :(
My deepest condolences to the victims’ families.

    Have a good night everyone!
    peace ppl ;) :)

  4. Oh, I almost forgot! a kiss goodnight to everyone with this:

it’s one of my favourite Greek lullabies.
I hope Roselil sees that too :)

  5. I must be slow, but I don’t really understand his comparison. Does he mean that his song is more timeless, and that Loreen’s is just fun to have for a party?

“About the Russian grannies he said that they were more of a stunt than a song.”

So I guess they’re like water colours; pretty to look at but not drinkable. :)

    • One more thing to say about “Nije ljubav stvar”. I think it would have been a pity if this song won, when “Lane moje”, “Lejla” and “Oro” didn’t. Nevertheless, I think this song was still the best one this year, though I consider the lyrics to be very flat. And Zeljko Joksimovic is a REAL artist and composer, which can’t be said about that many ESC artists nowadays.

“Joksimović affirmed once again, that his performance in Baku was his last Eurovision entry as a singer”.

Hmm, didn’t Zeljko say exactly the same when his song was beaten by Lordi in 2006?

I hope that we still haven’t seen the last of him here.

  6. I’ve decided to comment less for a while, because I am very busy atm and because I think I need to let the dust settle. I love red wine and Željko’s comment is very clever. I could not agree more. Personally, I much prefer red wine to any kind of cocktail, but there are people who think otherwise. :)

P.S. I: there were several soft drinks on offer in the final, but most of them did not go anywhere fortunately.

P.S. II: thanks for the link, Oxi.

  7. Ahah excellent one Zeljko. I must say I am glad, I think his song would have won or beat Russia if performed by Hari Mata Hari or Jelena Tomasevic or anyone else good. He has no charisma really, he’s good vocally but not even amazing, while his song was one of the very best of the year. He should continue to help Serbia, to be part of Eurovision for amazing Serbia (with 2012, Serbia is now my #2 above France but below Bosnia as best esc country ever) and even compose sure, but performing I’m not sure he would bring a victory.

  8. Really ? you are getting ahead of yourself dear Zeliko…Your song was good but nothing close to “good old wine”, although that’s not necessarily flattering..Loreen was miles ahead as she provided something new for the esc stage..Cocktails taste much better many times compared to a good old wine nevertheless..And that cocktail was an unforgettable experience..If you weren’t the one performing that song I doubt it would have done much better than Slovenia (who definately deserved more credit imo that “Nije Ljubav Stvar”..but it was Eva Boto performing it unfortunately, not Zeliko…)..The results this year were really mixed after all…Couldn’t we have Slovenia, Ireland, Hungary and Switzerland instead of Russia, Albania, Serbia and Turkey :( ?

  9. I thought both Željko and Loreen were fantastic, but at polar opposites of the musical spectrum. I would have been happy if Nije Ljubav Stvar had won, but I’m just as content with Euphoria’s dramatic win. It’s nice that Željko respects that, as well. I would not have been pleased if Russia had won, as they would have further enforced the idea of Eurovision’s being a joke. Not to say anything against the Babushki, but they *were* more of an act than a song. Second place reminds me of Dancing Lasha Tumbai of the Ukraine in 2007…
