United Kingdom – Maybe the UK finds remedy for their second to last place at this year’s Eurovision earlier than everyone thought. “I would go to Eurovision. Totally,” Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters said live on the air at BBC Radio Five. “If I was asked I would gladly do it for you. I’d be happy to!“. The Scissor Sisters is an American band from New York City. Their arguably biggest hit to date is “I don’t feel like dancing”.
Here is their biggest hit:

It would be a bit strange to see and American band in ESC, but if they are up to it and nobody in the UK wants to do it anymore, why not? They just need the approval of BBC of course.
I’m not sure throwing big names at ESC will do it for the UK, look at Blue and Englebert. OK Jade did well with Andrew Lloyd-Webber but it was a half decent ballad and she could sing. Why the BBC cannot incorporate a talent show like ‘The Voice’ or similar in the run up with some decent singers and songwriters!!!
OH YESSSSS LET THEM DO IT!
UK would probably be my clear #1 then :p
I love their “Night Work” album which is their best ever, especially the amazing “Something Like This”… this fourth one is about to be released though, so the timing wouldn’t be perfect but why not? Céline Dion won for Switzerland…
But how famous was Céline Dion when she participated in ESC? Wasn’t Lara Fabian the big name that year?
no Lara Fabian was a nobody as well, Plastic Bertrand was way more famous and look how he ended :p
Céline was a star in Francophone Europe (a child star especially). Virtually unknown everywhere else…
I remember a similar headline from years ago.

that would be awesome
bring it on sisters
let’s be honest anything would be better than Englebert (nice idea at the time but…) or what was his name…Josh? I heard a rumour in UK circles that Sonia wanted to make an ESC comeback?! hmmmm, better the devil you know?!
Judging by the clip posted I doubt anything like “I don’t feel like dancing” would bring UK huge success…
I LIKE “FIRE WITH FIRE”
I dunno…I’m more concerned about what ‘song’ the UK will send to Eurovision rather than who will represent them. Its a song contest after all..
I might enter. I’m going anyway, me and the BBC can share our costs, win-win. I can’t be any worse than Scooch.
I’d like something very modern and contemporary after Englebert (bless him), I think it’s the UK’s only chance of getting points. But yes, it very much depends on the song of course.
Perfect idea ^^ I want exclusive interviews!!
Either an EPIC power ballad or a Contemporay R’n’B entry, europe rarely see’s R’n’B at Eurovision too!
VERY VERY BAD IDEA, WE WOULDNT WIN WITH THEM, plus recently the singer that represented poland in 2008 she was American and came 24th in the Final, Emmy who sent an american styled song failed to qualify armenia to the final in 2010. An American band is a no go! I would love them to Send one direction as they are popular over europe, but then again they may not be so good live, Leona Lewis would be another great idea becuase she would deliver live and during the rehersals, and is such a moving artist, she connects with the audience throughout the whole ballad when she sings, and you feel you are on an emotional journey/story with her, love her breathtaking vocals too. And then the other artist I would like would be Bo Bruce from the UKs Voice 2012 who finished 2nd/3rd. A power ballad should be sent not kitch psychadelic scissor sister, we have enough Americans poising our charts, dont want them poisioning our ESC entries too, although they cant be any worse than Jemini, Scooch, and Josh.!
Americans have a long history in Eurovision, certainly with some success. In 1997, Katrina Leskanich (born in Topeka, Kansas) won for the United Kingdom. In 2000, American Andrew Lane (born in San Diego) wrote “Solo,” which finished second. In 2008, American Jim Beanz wrote and produced the winning entry for Dima Bilan. Also in 2008, Kalomira (an American) finished third for Greece. And in 2010, the winning entry was primarily written by Julie Frost, an American. Next to the Swedes, American hands are probably all over more Eurovision entries than any other country (don’t forget to include things like choreographers). Greece even used an American presenter (Maria Menounos) in 2006.
So let’s not worry about where people come from, and try to use the best talent available to create the strongest entries possible.
