Düsseldorf – The Heads of Delegation meeting has started in Düsseldorf today. Details about the stage, the post cards and the interval act have been revealed. The stage will include a huge LED screen in the back part and a “Satellite” approximately 40 meters in front of the stage. The floor of the stage will also include LED strips and two ramps. According to officials, the stage was intentionally kept small to keep the concentration on the center of attention. The Opening Act will be a rocky performance of last year’s winning song “Satellite” by the big band “The Heavytones”. Lena won’t be able to sing her song again, as she will represent Germany again this year. The interval act will be the popular German singer Jan Delay with his song Disko No1. The postcards will include the slogan of the 2011 Eurovision “Feel your heart beat” in the respective national language.
The Heavytones are the big band of Stefan Raab’s (this years host) late night show “TV Total”, they have also participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 as Max Mutzke’s band. During the German national finals 2010 and this year they played all songs live. They have also frequently accompanied Lena during TV appereances leading up to the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo.
Jan Delay is a popular singer, songwriter and producer. His musical style includes elements of hip hop, reggae, dub and funk. He became known in German-speaking countries as member of the bands “Absolute Beginner” and “La Boom”. He has since pursued a successful solo career.
Here you can see his live performance at “Rock am Ring 2010”:
Stay tuned for more information!
I am very happy to learn that The Heavy Tones will be there and hope and pray that at least they will be allowed to play live. Everything else sounds fine. I am very suprised to see a left-wing and anti-globalisation act as Jan Delay as interval act in the final though.
maybe they’ll go for germany afterwards, i remember when goran took te interval in 2008 i thought “wow serbia’s best and he’ll never do esc” and then in 2010…
Watching Goran in ESC 2008 was the best for me, the best host country ever..
I would love to se Rammstein on the stage in Düsseldorf ..and then later Nina Hagen (ok dont laugh at me,I mean it seriously) :)
I didn’t see Jan delay as a very obvious choice… I fear ESC 2011 will be a big Raab show…
we all fear that since Lena won and Raab made a personal point of havng her again hopefully with one of his songs too
stage sounds all right, so lena wont have the joy to have the last winner reprise and all makes sense though it’s sad i think… it’s been a long time since we had tasteful postcard these dont sound great either
I liked the last 2 years… What do you consider as tasteful?
I think it will be cool to hear all those languages at least a little
I agree about the postcards. I still think that they should be some sort of introduction to the artist(s) performing next …
That would be cool. It might still happen.. Maybe its the artists saying the slogan in their national language…
2009 was very well crafted but they were mostly “here’s a modern russian representation of your country in 25 seconds” giving no time whatsoever to discuss song or singer or mention the (hi)story behind it…
as for last year they were HORRIBLE, we couldn’t at all see anything, the camera shots were a MESS? it was just groups of people WHO? WHY? jumping at each other you couldn’t hear anything, it was a cliché “famous spot” of the country and lasted for 30 lame seconds.
they have to create a mood, set things up for what’s to come, or give a certain insight into a representation NOT a cliché one (in a way 2001 ones remain some of the better ones on that matter)
I liked them this year. They went to all these countries (I agree that they could’ve made more out of that) and then that hologramm over the audience looked very nice…
the big yellow poops that it took me ten countries to figure out what they were?
I also liked the hologram over the audience representing every country’s map :) .
when you hit “view the results” of the big poll, the countries re in alphabetical order, all except portugal which is all the wa down the list and lithuania which is between macedonia and moldova?
because I forgot Portugal when I saved it first and the other one is a mistake.. Doesn’t matter at all though…
I will start a new one (the final one) today anyway as Belarus has a new song
Done! Now everybody can vote for up to 3 countries. I hope that will relatavize the “I vote for my country” votes a bid… And in Eurovision people vote for more than one song anyway.
Although Lena is in my top 3, I did not vote for my own country …
I didn’t either… but she’s not in my Top 3 anyway..
Serbia, Bosnia, France
Bosnia, France and erm… Estonia/Germany/Denmark/Serbia/Italy
these are the 7 who will NOT leave my top 10 whatever the lives i think
is the running order just for the semi finals? or will they tell you the order for the final as well?
The running order draw is tomorrow.. They will draw the semis and the Big 5 in the final will get their position as well
I read on another site than Eric Saade won’t be allowed with his glass in Dusseldorf because it can be very dangerous to the other artists. Apparently he is very angry because he thinks the breaking glass is the climax of his show and fits the song perfectly. Now they’re searching for some other way to break something else.
Wonder how his show will be without the breaking glass.
Not much left, I’s say … because there is next to no musical substance and what Eric does on stage hardly qualifies as singing imo. It’s more like a nasal caw …
after being down to 5 “dancers / singers” and actual live singing, saade’s show takes yet another step down, i dont see how breaking glass fits the “Popular” theme, it’s a simple allegory of it, come on be more creative than that!
I’m actually glad that he’s not allowed with “breaking the glass” part because it ruined the whole show. Maybe now they’ll just stick to the dancing and singing, that’s enough.
Actually I liked his entry until this breaking glass crap killed it for me. I think the performance would win much if they drop this.
Where can i find the “Dikso No 1” lyrics by Jan Delay?? Thanks guys!
JAN DELAY! Awesome! :D
