Israel: Izabo To Baku!

Israel – Today, the Israeli national broadcaster decided internally to send the group Izabo to Eurovision Song Contest 2012. IBA picked seven artists, including Maya Buskila, Vladi Bleiberg, Tzvika Pick and others, to send their songs. Then, an internal committee selected Izabo’s song “Time”, described as electronic Pop with an oriental flavour.

Ram Shem-Tov, one of the composers of the song and lead singer of Izabo, announced that “This is truly a great honor for us, to represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest. This year will be hectic for us, also with a new album coming out with the British record label ‘100%’. We will give the best show in Baku”.

IBA’s committee was formed by 11 members, including musicians, such as Mira Awad (Israeli representative in 2009), radio and TV presenters, and OGAE Israel chairman, Roi Yechezkel.

While “Time” is not released, you can listen to Izabo’s “On My Way”, here.

  1. Judging from some of their stuff I watched on YT, they sound really promising; I hope they won’t let us down. And although I’m not very keen on biligual lyrics, I would like them to have at least a few of the verses of “Time” in hebrew (I love the sound of this language) :)

  2. Could this be year of the bands?

From what I’ve read most of Georgia’s songs are by bands, the Belarusian favorite is Litesound and the Hungarians could end up choosing Compact Disco…time will tell, but I wouldn’t mind ;)

    • Litesound is not favorite in Belarus, especially with jury, and we still don’t know all songs because some artists will use their right to change their song and replace for one from that list of foreign composers’ song!

I dislike Israeli choice, it sucks for me!
Maya Buskila was so much better!

  3. “electronic Pop with an oriental flavour.”

Sounds HORRIBLE to me…Tzvika Pick is the only songwriter for Israel in ESC I could like atm…as I know Sarit Hadad and her team won’t represent Israel any more..

  4. Amazing choice! Internal selection is always the best (sorry to say it once more) and this daring and alternative decision may mark the return of Israel in my top 10 after 2008, 2009 and 2010 which were all in it before Israel fell in my top 5 with last year’s disaster.
