San Marino – As the German Eurovision blog eurofire reports today, the San Marinese broadcaster, contrary to reports of other websites, has not taken a decision concerning their participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, yet. The head of the San Marinese delegation Alessandro Capicchioni told the blog, that no final decision has been taken: “Nothing is decided as of now! We will circulate a press release once the question has been discussed and a decision has been reached within the channel.”
San Marino’s participation is probably pretty dependet on the Italian broadcaster’s decision, as the RAI owns half of the San Marinese broadcaster SMRTV. RAI has not made any announcement about their future at the Eurovision Song Contest. Just like Italy, San Marino had returned to the contest last year and achieved a 16th place in the semi-final. Their first and only other participation in 2008 ended with a last place in the semi-final.
