This is shaping up to be an interesting year, especially with the last few songs coming through! :D

  2. Hi guys, I was occupied all day, and will now listen GRE and SUI.
Just one question – which one revealed first? I have this tradition of always listening songs in order they were released/selected.
I know its sounds very geeky and very OCD-like :-))))

  3. Switzerland leaves me unfazed and what a shame he’s a shit driver, too!
I wonder whether or not France and Switzerland will hinder each other to do better being the only two French language ballads in the contest. With a different approach though.

  4. It is a very beautiful song and I’m sure he will nail it in live performance. But when it comes to comparisons, yeah, “Répondez-moi” was better. Good luck!

  5. Oh wow, this is pure goosebumps… so good… his voice in the chorus – wow…
I can’t even tell if it’s better or worse than last year, I think that I won’t compare these two and just enjoy each one for it’s own…

  6. Switzerland is MY winner of the day. It sails through the Final as the only credible male ballad from semi 2 imo (Sorry EST)

    • Many people doubted him and I never got why: sure it’s hard to reproduce just one year later a good song, especially for the same targetted audience, the same contest etc (which is different than creating a whole new album or collab), but while I get many returnees arent “as good” because we compare, I still knew he’d deliver a fine song! Now his live singing is an acquired taste, but he’s very charismatic and will stand out imo!

  7. Listened to CHE again. Comparing it to “Repondez Moi” is inevitable. IMO, this song is not a contender in Rotterdam. His 2020 entry was instant, it grabbed you after the first notes and it was more personal to him talking about his experience as an immigrant. “L’Univers” is a nice French pop entry that is close to my taste. One last thing is Gjon’s Tears live performances last year disappointed me because of all the high-pitched notes he obviously likes to use. I fear the same will happen again this year.

  8. Gah! It’s so hard not the be disappointed. Gjon was my favourite last year and this just doesn’t live up to the magic. The first 1.50 minutes are strong and then it loses me and becomes too noisy. The lyrics are fine but don’t feel special. It’s still one of the better songs of the year but I’m left disappointed. The song does remind me a lot of Stanislas which is cute.

This year is shaping up to be a year where I have no clear favourite but a bunch of decent songs at my top. There is definitely a lot of horror show songs and I don’t think I’ve had so many songs I’ve disliked and found cringe for a number of years. Lockdown hasn’t been a creative time for most ESC artists it seems…
