Tonight: Last Super Saturday of 2020

Just like last year, we will witness Super Saturdays with many shows happening all at once. Instead of opening all threads, hard to follow for everyone, we decided to have just one thread for all shows to follow live so we can all discuss them together.

Sweden – It’s the most anticipated National Final within the Eurovision Fandom and it concludes tonight with the grand final. Melodifestivalen is about to close for an entire year!

Twelve acts will take to the stage at the Friends Arena in Stockholm and will compete for the chance to represent the country in Rotterdam. This is tonight’s running-order:

Portugal – RTP, the national broadcaster, will conclude its search for the next Portuguese entry with the grandfinal of Festival da Canção 2020 to be hosted tonight.

The show tonight will be hosted at Coliseu Comendador Rondão Almeida in Elvas by Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim while Inês Lopes Gonçalves will be in the greenroom. Tonight’s line-up is:

Results will be determined by a 50% split between jury and televote. The show starts at 22:00 CET and you can watch it here.

San Marino – RTV, the national broadcaster, will host an online national final for the artist that they’ve internally picked, Senhit, to represent them in Rotterdam! It’ll be between two songs: “Freaky!” and “Obsessed”. Today at 9:00 CET, until midnight on the following Sunday, it will be possible to vote for your favourite song on Senhit’s website. The winner will be revealed after the votes close.

FinlandYLE, the national broadcaster, will host UMK 2020 tonight, the national final, that will select the entry to represent them in Rotterdam! The show will be hosted by Krista Siegfrids and Mikko Silvennoinen. Moreoever, Viki & Köpi will be in the greenroom.

The songs were selected by a jury out of 400 sent entries. The jury was headed by Tapio Hakanen, Head of Music at YleX radio. This is tonight’s line-up:

  1. TikaI Let My Heart Break
  2. Erika VikmanCicciolina

Denmark – DR, the national broadcaster, will host Melodi Grand Prix tonight, the national final, that will select the entry to represent them in Rotterdam! The show will be hosted by Hella Joof andRasmus Bjerg at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

So this is a new selection method for the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (DMGP). Just like its neighbor Norsk Melodi Grand Prix (NMGP), it features songs already qualified to the final and songs participating in semi-finals. For Denmark, this means only one semi-final with 9 songs split in three thirds. In each third, one song qualifies with 100% televote. A jury chooses two songs from the remaining 6 to join the final. In the end we therefore will have 10 finalists: 5 prequalified and 5 qualified through this semi-final. This is tonight’s line-up:

  1. Isam BBølger
  2. Ben & TanYes (East District)
  3. Maja & De Sarte SjæleDen eneste goth i Vejle
  4. Benjamin KissiFaith
  5. Emil Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig (North District)
  6. Sys BjerreHonestly
  7. Jamie TalbotBye Bye Heaven (South District)
  8. Sander SanchezScreens (North District)
  9. Kenny DuerlundForget It All (South District)
  10. Jasmin Rose feat. RoxorLoopsHuman

The top three advanced thanks to the votes of a ten-member jury (50%) and a public vote (50%) to the Superfinal, where a new round of votes between the jury and televote decides the winner. The show starts at 20:00 (CET) and can be watched here.

  1. Bad NF year in terms of results (hence why we’re rather meh towards esc 2020 which I don’t agree with, since I like many intenally selected songs such as Switzerland, Bulgaria, Germany and still had a fave win in Lithuania or Iceland or good ones like in Ukraine)… and we also missed two good NF in Destination Eurovision and A Dal (which had a winner tonight, remember when we said we’d try to follow? lol)
