Lithuania: It’s The Roop to Rotterdam!

Lithuania – This year’s Eurovizijos Atranka 2020 concluded tonight with the grand final, after 3 heats and 2 semis. 8 acts were taking part with a vote split with 50% jury and 50% televote. Both set of votes were won by The Roop with “On Fire“!

36 songs split in three heats of 12; 18 songs split in two semis (though one withdrew because of a back injury) and therefore a grand final of 8. This is what it all came down to. With Gabrielė Martirosian and Giedrius Masalskis and Eurovision 2018 artist Ieva Zasimauskaitė as hosts and a grand spectacle, the new revamped NF for Lithuania, now called Pabandom gave us a great evening.

This was tonight’s running order:

  1. Aistė PilvelytėUnbreakable
  2. Rūta LoopWe Came From The Sun
  3. KaYraAlligator
  4. Monika MarijaIf I Leave
  5. MeandiDrip
  6. THE ROOPOn Fire
  7. The BacksFully
  8. MoniquéMake Me Human

While it made no surprises that The Roop would win televote, as they did every round so far, no one expected them to beat everyone else (all 7 others did not have as much televote together as them). Moreover, victory wasn’t assured either as juries would break the tie if there was any and they didn’t have The Roop first in semi-final (but they did in the third heat). However, with a 20pt margin, The Roop did win the juries and therefore won overall. Moniqué was second to both televote and juries!

What do you think of this entry? What are its chances in Rotterdam?

  1. Learning the dance routine by the master himself:

  2. Good song from Lithuania well done. Sadly I don’t like the dancing so much, except when they went silhouette on the red background, that really worked, the rest of the time, the lead singer looked a bit weird.

  3. Whereas this, I don’t like. At all.

  4. Cheap flights from NYC, cheap hotels and I can take a trip to Estonia before the shows and you know Ieva will be there too!

You know, Lithuania winning wouldn’t be the worst thing.
