Norway – This year’s Melodi Grand Prix will feature 5 semi-finals in order to celebrate the 60 years of Norway’s participation in Eurovision. The 3rd semi-final takes place tonight. 4 participants will battle for the televote’s ticket for the final.
The 4 acts taking part for Central Norway are:
- Thomas Løseth (featuring Erika Norwich) – ‘Vertigo’
- Alexandru – ‘Pink jacket’
- Sie Gubba – ‘Kjære du’
- Kristin Husøy – ‘Pray for me’
The hosts Kåre Magnus Bergh, Ingrid Gjessing Linhave and Ronny Brede Aase will first draw the two duels. The two winners of the duels will then face one another for the televote’s tickets for the final, which will be hosted in Trondheim. A jury already looked at the 5 semi-finalists of each semi-final and picked a winner to qualify directly to the final. Tonight’s jury qualifier is Akuvi singing ‘Som du er‘.

Kristin is better than all 3 prequalified finalists till now. What was this professional jury thinking?
modern, schlager, pop and didrik were the key elements in picking there I guess
I don’t really know if they chose based on name recognition.
Tome, Didrik, Akuvi… I think it played some role to get some people to watch the final (a big risk of people turning it off if their faves are not Q, which is why MF does 100% televote in the semis)
Kjære du is weak for the genre it is supposed to represent. Harmless though.
Kristin is really strong. The song gets better each time I listen to it.

Norway has finally voted for an interesting song. Well done.
It has been an insanely busy and long day, and I missed all the action tonight. I have just listened to the winner of this heat. Kristin’s song isn’t anything special, but it is pleasant at least, and that alone puts it miles ahead of any of the other finalists we know at this point.

Kristin Husøy – ‘Pray for me’ : It is quite good although the chorus is a tad dissapointing. Vocally great, like the attitude of the song and her performance, very groovy. She is a bit stiff on stage but that can be fixed. Best semi Q for sure – 8/10
Finalist :
Akuvi – ‘Som du er’ : The song is contemporary and a bop for sure but she was really mediocre vocally and God that dancing routine was bad. Needs polishing asap because the base material is there. – 6/10
Thus far the Solli-Tangen’s have the best song followed by Kristin in the final imo.
I gave Didrik’s song a try… wrong move. No, thanks.

It’s funny because I was waiting tables in Austin around the time the film came out; he was shooting another movie I assume and he looked just terrible in real life, like some middle manager at an insurance company.

Like all the muscles had turned to fat (I remember he ordered sth insanely fatty) and terrible skin like he was chain-smoking. Don’t kniw what he was shooting I guess I could look it up… but really he never looked as good as in Gladiator.

I really didn’t recognize him at first – we were discussing whether it actually could be him but the voice gave him away.
OK just looked it up and he must have been there with his band at the time. Which makes sense because ususally you’d know if a big star was shooting a film in town.

He’s one of these actors who seems to disappear for a while and then pops up again like w the Roger Ailes series last year.
He’s really the last person I would have figured to become the big star after LA Confidential – Guy Pearce had good roles but was never a box office attraction; Basinger faded into obscurity again and Spacey was in a class by himself – but Crowe got the Oscar noms and some huge roles.
Rough edged rugged Aussie tough guy, there’s always place in box office for that.
Gladiator really stood out though; I guess it was the look? He never had that same magnetism for me otherwise. Contrast with Kevin Spacey who did not have a conventionally hot look but a major sexy attitude. I would not have run to a judge if he had tried to pick me up.

I saw that with Florence Lacey and, uh, someone in New Orleans who nobody outside the ciyt will know but who was amazingly good. It’s just a great show. I actually went to Evita’s tomb/mausoleum when I was in Buenos Aires.
I didn’t think the film with Madonna was all that bad; she kind of fits the part; Jonathan Pryce as Perón was just this one time the weak link.
I like the film and Madonna was really good in the role. Shame she destroyed her quite good pop voice while taking too much singing lessons for the part.
Yes that’s the funny thing about it; she sounds far more mannered singing than anyone else I remember singing those songs.
