Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2020 Line-Up Revealed

Sweden – Swedish broadcaster, SVT, is revealing all of the Melodifestivalen acts this Tuesday 26th November at 12.00 pm (CET). The press conference will be streamed live via the official Melodifestivalen Instagram account here. Discover the draw live with us!

The hosts are going to be former Alcazar member Lina Hedlund, who took part last year as a solo artist, David Sundin and Linnea Henriksson. It is now a tradition to have a big name inside the bubble as a host, who moves from participant to host for the occasion. We had Mans, Sarah or Eric recently, but Charlotte or even Carola did it earlier this century.

The 28 acts were chosen among 2 545 songs, 250 more than last year, proving MF is still very big in Sweden. However, as we see with the early reveals and the rumors last night, a lot of returnees, with almost only one or two new artists per semi-final. 7 acts will take part in 4 semifinals, with 2 qualifying to the final, 2 to the second chance round and 3 eliminated.

  1. What I am listening to right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3RcUStH_sA

There is surely no-one north of the Equator
who has a bicycle like my Aviator
A dynamo on the front and a reflector on the back

There is surely no-one north of Gibraltar
who has a guitar like the one I have
    Silverbronzed and occupied by stars

Oh no, no-one has a guitar like mine

There is surely no-one north of Cologne or Kiel
who has a cousin like my cousin Emil
He is oiling my bicycle and tuning my guitar

Oh no, no-one has a cousin like mine

    • And this one is a masterpiece really: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfPqbKB578U

It’s late now, and you see quilts
in the smoke from your cigarette
which came all the way from the USA
to make you so goddamn tired
Bloody cigarette, it made you so goddamn tired

Where there’s life, there is Long
The ad even said it’s refreshing
But after 24 of the same kind
you are not so sure anymore
The girl in the ad is nodding
she must be very well paid – what’s wrong?

No matter what she got for that
you are just so incredibly tired
      It’s a wonder to you
that they dare call the product a cigarette
that they dare call it a cigarette

Never in my life have I seen
      so much nicotine and tar
as when they showed me an X-ray photograph of my lungs
      and said “We’re sorry”
      It was almost unbearable
But you did it anyway, all by yourself

      Today’s last inhalations
is slowly seeping from my lungs
They leave an acrid and bitter taste in my mouth
and make my head much heavier
and make my head much heavier

  2. wow… Portugal, France and Germany in the same group!!! :o
There will be a hell of a competition!

  3. Live presentation of the 2020 Eesti Laul hopefuls is on. Stefan and Rasmus Randvee named as early favorites by one of the jury members who selected the songs:

  4. Uku Suviste – “What Love Is”: A dynamic ballad. It’s catchy

  5. Traffic – “Üks kord veel”: Their usual stuff. It’s nice and feel-good.

  6. INGA – “Right Time”: A self-empowerment pop song. The chorus is mehhh

  7. STEFAN – “By My Side”: A heartfelt ballad. I like it.

  8. Ziggy Wild – “Lean On Me”: Dynamic rock. 80’s vibes. Not my thing

  9. Egert Milder – “Georgia (On My Mind)”: Judging from the video he means the actual country. lol. Nice video and Morgan will like him.

  10. @ Hjallis

OMG, Synne Valtri feat. Väliharf “Majakad” sounds like Finnish schlager and looks like Sanna Nielsen! FAVE alarm!! :O

  11. I am cleaning my music library today … how much I miss strong schlager in MF. :(
Listening to Patrick Isaksson’s ‘Faller du så faller jag’ atm. This one will stay in my playlist. It’s so uplifting. :)

After 5 hours I have made it to the letter F …

  12. I wonder why international juries didn’t like “Ashes to Ashes” in the MF final 2019? :/

  13. On this pic, Mamas look the most promising TBH.. :D :P
