Sweden – Each year Sweden holds a competition for new artists via the P4 Nästa competition on the radio. One lucky entrant, chosen from the finalists, is then invited to take part in the Swedish national selection, Melodifestivalen.
This year’s winner was Tim Lööv. The jury decided, however, that another singer, Amanda Aasa, should be offered the chance to perform in Melodifestivalen 2020.

The jury consisted of P4’s music editor Germund Stenhag and Rita Jernquist, Svensktoppens and P4 Music’s program manager Carolina Norén, program director Michael Cederberg, competition producer Karin Gunnarsson from SVT / Melodifestivalen and the chairman of the jury Maths Broborg.
The motivation of the jury in picking Amanda was for ‘her personal expression and an obvious place in the musical landscape 2020’.
The song that Amanda will sing at Melodifestivalen is as yet unknown.
Amanda Aasa has previously auditioned for Swedish Idol twice, in 2014 and 2017
