Israel – As delegations meet in Tel Aviv to prepare the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, the host country drew its spot in the final in order to keep fairness, since the producers of the show get to do the draw now. “Home” performed by Kobi Marimi will perform 14th in the final!
Irony? The head of delegation of Cyprus, Evi Papamichael, was designated to draw the Israeli spot, under the supervision of Eurovision headmaster Jon Ola Sand. The host country, who wanted to reveal last and officially did (last night at 20:00 CET) though the entry leaked in the afternoon before Malta’s and Armenia’s, will open the second half of the 26 entries to be performed in the final and go at 14th.
Hard to say how much that can influence the outcome, though opening a half is never really good, especially if a song considered a contender gets to close the first half!
