Tonight: Fifth Super Saturday of 2019

Just like last year, we will witness Super Saturdays with many shows happening all at once. Instead of opening all threads, hard to follow for everyone, we decided to have just one thread for all shows to follow live so we can all discuss them together. Tonight we get 6 shows… including 5 finals!

Sweden – It’s the most anticipated National Final within the Eurovision Fandom and it resumes tonight with the famous “Andra Chasen”, aka second chance. The 8 songs that qualified to it in the 4 heats will face one another in duels to select 4 new songs to Melodifestivalen’s grand final!

This is a weird second chance, with three former winners and a former runner-up will take the stage at Nyköpings Arenor, Rosvalla in Nyköpings. This is tonight’s line-up:

  • Andreas JohnsonArmy of us VS Anna Bergendahl – Ashes to ashes
  • Vlad ReiserNakna i regnet VS Nano Chasing rivers
  • Martin StenmarckLåt skiten brinna VS Lisa Ajax – Torn
  • Rebecka KarlssonWho I am VS Arvingarna – I do

It’s 100% televote tonight. The first duels will go after another. The show starts at 20:00 (CET) and can be watched here.

Portugal – RTP, the broadcaster in charge of the country’s participation in Eurovision 2019, will conclude this year’s national final, Festival de Cançao 2019. There were two semi-finals of 8 artists with only 4 tickets for the grand final!

The show will move from RTP studios in Lisbon to Portimão Arena in Portimão. After an all female cast in the first semi and an all male cast for the final, new hosts will be in charge of the final, so Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim will be in charge of hosting the event, with Inês Lopes Gonçalves in the green room.

There is a new voting system for the final. 50% of the votes will come from regional juries (7 regions) and then 50% will come from televote. In case of a tie, the televote’s favorite will get the prize instead of juries’, like in the semifinal.

This is a smaller format than usual, with only 10 qualified to Söngvakeppnin 2019. After a few changes were announced, the semi-finals now featured 5 songs and only 2 qualified; however, the jury did pick Kristina as a wildcard from the first semi-final. 1. Obrigado, Portugal! You’ve skyrocketed to my 1st place again.

  2. Televoting sucked except for Conan. Finally I have an ESC entry I can support 100 %. Portugal FTW!

  3. Portugal and Iceland have definately risen in my respect this evening. The downside: If things go wrong, we Germans will never get the chance to vote for one of them. :(

  4. NBC is a prick.

  5. Pharaonic beard and feather tights won! Well voted, Portugal! My favourite for this season.

  6. Portugal will escape the bottom of my rankings for the first time in a while.

  7. I don’t like how they pretend they are surprised.. :P

  8. I am so glad I was wrong.

  9. So curious to see how jury will vote this in ESC. :D

    • The first semi will definately be interesting this year!

      • I can’t see many jurors putting this high. but who knows..
I don’t know who were the jurors in Portugal this evening?

        • Jurors undoubteldy influenced by the hype as documented by our shevek… we’ll see what happens in Tel Aviv.

          • You are right, I don’t like that approach at all..

It looses the sense, why they are here if they will follow televoting?

            • Anybody can shed any light on the jury members? As there are different regional ones I assume they’re even less “music experts” than usual and thus maybe more influenced by hype?

  10. NBC is trying really hard now to not show he is a sore loser :P

  11. LOLOLOLOLmost effective trolling since tRump’s candidacy! Will fortunately kill off the less rounded trolling by Finland in the same semi. As the year is quite dull it will then probably do better than last year’s more attractive hipster fave AWS. Anyone got tonight’s video for the dance moves? Becoming a guilty pleasure.

  12. NBC, the new dancer of Conan.

  13. Why white outfit??

i want the one from the semi!

    And rose??

Okay these vocals are horrible now… hope it is only for the winning performance.. :/
