Czech Republic: Listen and Vote!

Czech Republic – ČT, the Czech national broadcaster, has revealed the 8 participants in its national final, Eurovision Song 2019 selection. The online voting is open as well!

Just like last year, which gave the country its best placing ever with their first Top 10 result, Czech Republic will use an Internet national final. Earlier this month they revealed 8 songs via their official page and their Youtube channel: they were the best out of 300 songs applied to participate!

The line-up:

  1. Lake Malawi – Friend of a Friend
  2. Jakub Ondra – Space Sushi
  3. Tomáš Boček – Don’t Know Why
  4. Pam Rabbit – Easy To Believe
  5. Jara Vymer – On My Knees
  6. Barbora Mochowa – True Colors
  7. Hana Barbara – Poslední slova tobě
  8. Andrea Holá – Give Me A Hint

The winner will be decided by online voters and an international jury. The votes from international fans will be counted together as one juror and you can vote via the Eurovision app until January 21st!

So, who’s your favorite?

  1. I kinda love “Friend of a Friend”, but it might be just because he’s so adorable. Anyway, it sounds like it would be bad live.

Jakub is gorgeous, but I wonder how ‘joke entry’ it can turn out to be?

“True Colors” is pretty good and their best shot at a good result I reckon.

  2. This NF is complete waste of time. Nothing even close to last years attempt. They should have just internally selected Mikolas again with “Me gusta”.

I like “Friend of a friend” and I can see avioding complete trainwreck, which would other entries cause. It is radio firendly, he is cute, and it could get some votes. I personally love “Posledni slova tobe” but can’t see it above sf bottom 3 in any scenario. As with any other song. Especially “Space Sushi” which will probably be chosen in the end…

  3. That green door (and the indoor stairs) must have become famous by now in Czechia! :P

Anyway, nothing special in this line-up, nothing extremely bad either.
    1, 3, 5, 6 are ok.
    Good luck!

Btw, I wonder if Hana Barbara is her real name or an artistic one inspired by the once famous animation studio Hanna Barbera :)

  4. I don’t like any of the songs. Good luck to Lana Del Rey, it would do much better than what people expect because it’s full of fans everywhere…
The final minute of Space Sushi is a mistery for me, I can’t survive more than 2 minutes of it :P

  5. I did listen but I will not vote without having heard these songs live. Atm, I do not remember much about them; I did not watch the videos. I remember having heard some fine orchestrations that took me back to the 80s: ‘Friend of a friend’ and ‘Easy to believe’, I think. Good luck! :)

  6. Quite strange entries..
Barbora Mochowa – “True Colors” is the best one for me..

  7. I’m in love with “True Colors”. If it wins I can definitely see it being in my top ten for ESC 2019.
