As feared, Melodifestivalen remains in the bubble. Even though the SVT appointed veteran Melodifestivalen and Eurovision writer and producer Edward af Sillén to consult on the 2019 edition in order to mix things up, a record 19 returning artists out of 28 can be spotted.

G:son, Jimmy Jansson, Mr. & Mrs. Deb and Anderz Wrethov (one of the guys behind “Fuego”) are the most comon songwriters this year. Benjamin Ingrosso, Robin Stjernberg and Nanne (Eurovision 1996 as part of One More Time, Melodifestivalen 1998, 2005 and 2007 as a solo artist) are former winners returning as a songwriters as well!

  1. Not an inspiring list at all and I still hope one of the new comers will be great…

For the returning artists, some of my least favorite MF winners (Anna and Martin) are back, meh! But if the trend of “they’ve done very well before it’s their turn” continues, that trend that sent Eric, Sanna, Måns, Robin and Benajmin to Eurovision, then I’m rooting for Wictoria (which I’ve loved twice, but she was killed by OGAE juries, probably not “sexy” enough for them) or Liamoo (also killed by OGAE juries, probably not schlager enough)

Also, on the “hot twink” categories, after the F of FO&O we get both Os participating lol

  2. The Lovers of Valdaro are by far the most interesting artists in the line up. Thank god for that wildcard!

  3. San Remo Giovani:

    Federica Abbate – Finalmente
    Andrea Biagioni – Alba piena
    Cannella – Nei miei ricordi
    Laura Ciriaco – L’inizio
    Diego Conti – 3 gradi
    Cordio – La nostra vita
    Fosco17 – Dicembre
La Rua – Alla mia età si vola
La Zero – Nina è brava
Le Ore – La mia felpa è come me
    Mahmood – Gioventù bruciataq
    Giulia Mutti – Almeno tre
    Nyvinne – Io ti penso
    Einar Ortiz – Centomila volte
    Ros – Incendio
    Symo – Paura di amare
    Wepro – Stop/Replay
    Deschema – Cristallo
    Fedrix & Flaw – L’impresa
Marte Marasco – Nella mia testa
    Mescalina – Chiamami amore adesso
Francesca Miola – Amarsi non serve
    Roberto Saita – Niwrad
    Sisma – Slow motion

  4. Recycli Festivalen 😏

  5. Hoping for big things from Liamoo (in the duet) and Nano, my last two Melodifestivalen winners. I find it interesting they put 2 big names back to back at the end of Semi 4…

  6. A promising line up judging from the known artists (well I am skeptical about Bergendahl but she deserves a 2nd chance after 9 years..) – and will Jon Henrik finally deliver an entry I like ? Let’s see…

Good luck ! And please hold the standards high. Not much hope left for anyone else..

  7. Good luck. Will we see another young man playing the sexy card winning?

  8. Loic’s new single “On Fire” out on 30th of November.

Oh and he has dyed his hair even more blond apparently :) :

  9. Looking most forward to Nano, Wiktoria, Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO, and Lisa Ajax. Hopefully we have a good year, I know Björkman really wants to get Ireland’s win record before he retires.

  10. I can’t help but notice that there are 9 entries with Swedish titles (hopefully it means that the songs are in Swedish :-) )
Much more then in previous years.

  11. MF has have always had many good songs, but very few credible singers over last decade or so.

SWE18 was very good song wise, but that guy was horrible in every sense. In my opinion one of the most antipathetic and repulsive personalities we have seen in years, with very bad energy around him.

They have touched the very bottom there, and now it can only go up (at least I hope so..?!?) :-)

  12. As expected, the usual suspects are back with the even more usual pretty boys in the mix. However there seem to be several songs in Swedish on offer. :) Good luck!

  13. I’ve just read on ESC Portugal (lots of MF fans writing articles there) that Mr. B has said that there are 2 potential winners of ESC 19 in the line-up…

P.S. – I am guessing “Too late for love” is one of them.

  14. OMG The line up looks so good!
I loved Lisa Ajax’s debut entry, but then I totally disliked her second try…this time she is the last in the 4th semi..hmmmm I hope “Torn” is A GEM!

My winner of MF and ESC thata year Anna Bergendahl is here! YAAAY! I hope she knocks everybody down this time! ;)

JOOOOOOON! <3 Just go to Tel Aviv!

But my big faves Dolly style with "Habibi"!!!! and Jon in teh same semi :( :( :(

I love Nano, Mohombi and Lovers of Valdaro too..
I don't like Wiktoria and not too fond of Margaret! :/

  15. Arja Saijonmaa from 1987 MF is also very promising! :D

  16. I hope that Polish victory at JESC and their great result with televoting will encourage them to send very good ESC entry to Tel Aviv!
    Wroclaw 2020! <3

  17. Rumors say Wiktoria has left her “Dolly Parton in the 21st century” style for now. This time, she will go big ballad.

  18. Hmmm, let’s analyze all our comebackers and those years they’ve entered:

    SEMI 1
    Anna Bergendahl (2010)
    Nano (2017)
    Arja Saijonmaa (1987, 2005)
    Wiktoria (2016, 2017)

    SEMI 2
    Andreas Johnson (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015)
    Liamoo (2018)
    Oscar Enestad (2017)
    Jan Malmsjö (1969)
    Margaret (2018)

    SEMI 3
    Dolly Style (2015, 2016)
    Martin Stenmarck (2005, 2014, 2016)
    Jon Henrik Fjällgren (2015, 2017)
    Omar (2017)
    Lina Hedlund (2002, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2014)

    SEMI 4
    Arvingarna (1993, 1995, 1999, 2002)
    Anton Hagman (2017)
    Ann-Louise Hanson (1963, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1982, 1983, 2002, 2004)
    John Lundvik (2018)
    Lisa Ajax (2016, 2017)

All in all, “only” three artists returning from last year (compared with two from 1969, lol). It’s 2017 coming back first and foremost, with seven artists from that edition. We also have three winners returning, and two of them are ones who did quite poorly in ESC.

  19. I read on Wikipedia: Ann-Louise Hanson has also attempted to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in the past.
    But thy don’t say which year… :/

  20. I can’t believe Dolly Style still exist, I haven’t been this happy before, 2019 season made.

  21. This year will be Wiktoria’s year for sure!
