Junior Eurovision: 2018 Sees Wales and Kazakhstan Debut!


Junior Eurovision – Exciting news for fans of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as it has been confirmed that there are a record breaking 19 entries this year for the contest in Minsk… with debuts from Wales and Kazakhstan. Welcome to both of them!

This year’s Junior contest will take place in the capital of Belarus at the Minsk Arena on 25th November 2018.

The following 19 countries are confirmed to take part:

Albania
Armenia
Australia
Azerbaijan
Belarus
France
FYR Macedonia
Georgia
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Kazakhstan
Malta
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Serbia
The Netherlands
Wales

This year’s slogan is #LightUp.

As in previous years, the winner of this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be invited to perform at the next Eurovision Song Contest.

  1. Shall be interesting to see and hear the Welsh entry and of course this could open the way for Kazakhstan in ESC.

    • agreed, as living in a country (Spain), and speaking fluently both official languages of an “autonomous region” Spanish (we call “castellano”) and Catalan, it’s good news to hear that the UK will use Welsh as an official language, which in official ESC history they never contemplated unlike other countries eg France, Ireland (once in ESC I remember?), Using other official languages of a country has always been a big deal in ESC I guess, no wonder the majority went for English since the new language rule, would be interesting to get reactions here, but guess we’re in “minority! ! and Ireland just became the world’s no 1 green country! congratulations!!
