ET Awards 2018: Best Top 5 Entry!

Eurovision 2018 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on top entries!

2018 will be the sixth year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here, the 2014’s ones here, the 2015’s ones here, the 2016’s ones here and the 2017’s ones here). As with the past few years, our blog hosts now three contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest, with “Premath/Aftermath” which compares our rankings before and after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners receive an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in homage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The seventeenth award is in the “Result” category and it’s “Best Top 5 Entry”. Former winners are: Norway (2013), Netherlands (2014), Belgium (2015), Ukraine (2016) and Portugal (2017). Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 13 Italy
  • 7 Israel
  • 6 Cyprus
  • 3 Austria
  • 1 Germany

It’s now up to you to vote in our poll below which entry was the best in the Top 5 this year! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song. The nominees in alphabetical order are:

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration to watch very carefully the videos before voting. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  1. how sad juries stopped Czech Republic from a highly deserved Top 5 results for Austria or Germany…

    • Sweden got (undeservedly imo) all their support in the genre. Nothing to do with Austria or Germany

    • Czech Rep. had a good song but did not deserve top 5 imho. It was entertaining but more about fishing for the young girls and gay votes than musical quality.

    • Agree. But Italy higher than Czech Rep. in the televote also made me furious! I mean, Italy at 215 and Czech at 249 would be much better imo, and “Lie to me ” would have been top5 🙂

  2. Italy. A very easy vote!

  3. Israel all the way.

  4. AWS released this remix:

  5. Italy.

  6. Italy > Israel > Austria > Cyprus > Germany

  7. Italy.

Austria is OK, but the other three are not for me.

  8. Cyprus as a performance :)

  9. At the risk of repeating myself – Italy.

  10. No competition here.

  11. I enjoyed Israel and Cyprus the most out of the top five. Italy I really like in studio, but the visuals were a bit heavy-handed.

Austria and Germany are two big steaming piles of meh.

  12. At least a category one can vote here – all of Austria, Germany and Italy were very good but I am between Austria and Germany due to the bashing they have received. My vote goes to Austria in this case.

Israel had no place in the final as a whole and Cyprus would be a good lower top 10-top 12.

  13. Voted for Italy.

  14. […] ever and its second tonight! You can click to look at the full recommendations and nominations from last week’s article here! There were 30 recommendations for the 5 countries in the first round and 102 votes were cast in an […]
