Eurovision 2018: Running Order of the Final Revealed!

Lisbon 2018 – The running order is finally out! After two semifinals and 20 qualified finalists, who join the Big 5 and host Portugal for Saturday’s final show, we were all anxiously waiting for the running order to be revealed. The contestant drew their halves and therefore we have a full running order!

As usual now, the draw is decided based on the capacity to make a TV show. It is up to the broadcaster to decide, but we all know that SVT’s Christer Björkman has been appointed to do the draw for the last three years, as he was the one behind this decision (already applied on MF). 1. Italy was really screwed coming after Cyprus.

  2. Italy may have got the worst spot

  3. Greek media have gone nuts over Foureira. They are sure she’s gonna win.
I wouldn’t like to be an ERT official in case she wins tomorrow night :P :D

  4. Ermal & Fabrizio sound great but there has never been any doubt about that. I also think that it sounds more relevant after ‘Fuego’. The big question is: Will people still pay attention after Eleni has set the arena on fire.

  5. Austria is the 1st one who stands out in the recap imo.

  6. I am off to bed. See you all tomorrow.

  7. Italy sounded great in that full clip they uploaded so I think they could still do pretty well even if they go after Cyprus. I’m thinking like top 15.

  8. I don’t get the odds this year. I think that Netta had minor vocal issues tonight but she is all green whereas Eleni is mostly red …

    • minor vocal issues are nothing for that song…she slayed imo…2 high notes are uber perfect

      • That’s what I said above. The big notes were very strong. Tomorrow night we will know what the juries thought. :)

  9. Btw, we will be around 12 people tomorrow night for the ESC final. If all 12 show up, it will be the biggest crowd I’ve ever watched ESC with! :P

    I’m off too.
    Good night, everyone!

  10. I want to do French hand moves to “Mercy” together with that older lady we could see yesterday during their performance in the audience ding that with some other ppl….it gives me life! <3

  11. Even Matt goes nasal when singing ‘Tu canción’. It is known as doing an Alfred. :)

  12. The beginning of the German snippet sounds as if Michael was in physical pain.

  13. Possible jury top-10:
    Lithuania
    Austria
    Estonia
    Germany
    Czech Republic
    Bulgaria
    Sweden
    Ireland
    Cyprus
    Italy

    Just missing out: Israel,France,Moldova

  14. Salvador has the best song tonight. :)

  15. Oh Sobral went to this very hateful contest apparently. Well I guess I need a break at some point during the final tomorrow as well.

  16. OMG, since 5 minutes my comments are not waiting for moderation after more than 2 year!!! YAAAAAAAAY!

  17. Going to bed as well. Tomorrow is the day – better be fresh and ready – and hope for the best :-)

    Cheers everyone !

  18. Do I sense a Latvia 2005 case with Ireland here? Neat guitar ballad with a clear gimmick (sign language vs dancing guys), benefitting from a late spot.

  19. It was a very interesting jury final. As expected te songs sound different live. The audience went wilde with:

    Cyprus
    Israel
    Estonia
    Ireland
    Moldova
    Denmark
    Cezh Republic
    Portugal
    UK
    Albania
    Germany

The first 3 are the clear winners in the popularity contest.

  20. Now we need to know in which order the juries will vote.

P.S. – The fans in the arena seemed convinced that Cyprus is going to win.

    • And the press seems to point to a Cypriot victory tonight.Let’s see if the juries will allow it.

      • Eleni, Netta and Elina were very impressive tonight – one of them will win, I suspect.

The first two made the audience dance, whereas Elina made the audience stand up and applaud when she finished.

P.S. – the audience applauded Sweden, but during the performance it seemed like there was almost no connection with the audience.

        • Ireland also sounded from here like it was really big with the audience.

          • It was, especially when the two dancers showed up on stage. But the 3 most enthusiastic reactions were clearly the ones I mentioned in that order.

  21. Prepare your moves for tonight:

  22. Predictions at this stage :

#20-26 : NDL, AUS, SRB, FIN, ESP, UK, SVN
    # 13 -19 : MDA, ALB, ITA, DNK, AUT, UKR, PRT
#1-12 : CYP, IRL, SWE, DEU, ISR, NOR, LTU, FRA, CZE, BGR, HUN, EST

    • Hmmm. I think Australia and Moldova will do much better than that. Don’t forget Moldova will benefit from a lot of ex-soviet votes and Australia will have the juries with her plus her indeniable camp appeal for the televote.

Right now, I think the contenders are:

1st third: LTU AUT EST NOR
2nd third: DEU FRA CZE AUS
Final third: BGR MLD SWE ISR IRE CYP

based on that, this is my Top10 prediction right now:

      CYP
      FRA
      LTU
      AUS
      MLD
      SWE
      ISR
      CZE
      IRL
      NOR

Despite having a better draw than France, Germany does not convince me of a top10 right now. Ireland also does not convince me of a top5 but their “unique selling point” and draw will probably give them a top10. I have Israel missing the top5 since being flanked with Hungary and Holland underlines its weirdness (plus I don’t think two dance songs will be top5) and Sweden just missing out because when all is said and done the whole thing is rather monotonous and uncharismatic. I think both Bulgaria and Estonia are probably heavy-handed to make the top10, while Czechia on the other hand can benefit from decent jury and televote (like Austria and Lithuania). Norway I think will only scrape by with a lower top10 and they may miss out entirely.

My avatar will go Foureira just for today in a show of support. Good luck to fiery Eleni and all the contestants!

  23. After the lives were completed and finalists were made available online, I thought that the following countries had a chance for a top10 result:

    France*
    Italy – vulnerable
    Germany*
    Norway
    Sweden(*)
    Estonia
    Czech Republic
    Bulgaria
    Cyprus*
    Israel*

    *denotes top5 result.

Austria, Ukraine, Australia and maybe Portugal will follow. I could add Ireland and Lithuania in either category but I must admit that had I wasn’t checking YT and odds, I wouldn’t have thought they could go far.

Largely my prediction is similar to the one I posted prior the lives/rehearsals started bar Belgium and Greece. After the conclusion of SF though, I realised Belgium will not enter the final, while Greece would struggle to reach the left-hand side of the scoreboard.

    • *correction. I see Estonia in top5 too. Moldova could just miss out as well.

    • My problem with Germany is that it looks too much like an Ed Sheeran tribute act plus Lithuania being an ex-soviet and baltic with added exposure from the semi is better positioned to take these votes despite its terrible draw. France is a big question-mark but I will dare a top5 prediction right now. I think it will be either FRA or DEU, not both in the top5.
