Recap of Rehearsals Day 5

Eurovision 2018 – With two weeks to go to the contest, daily rehearsals start this Sunday and of course the Eurovision Times will do its best to cover them; here’s for the second rehearsals to the first of semifinal a: pics and vids will be officially released and we get to discuss, debate, analyze, predict…

This is how it works: for each country, you can click on the country to see a full photoset, or in the picture to watch the TV footage short clip!

So that’s it for today’s rehearsals. Tomorrow, there’ll be 15 more (last 3 of semi 1, first 6 of semi 2 and the 6 finalists). So stay tune!

  1. Guys I read somehow that something happened with Mikolas’ assshaking but didn’t get what exactly happened? A help please! I guess I understand what makes me cold towards Greece’s performance: when zurna (i think that is zurna) sounds I wait for something to happen at least a dance with hands going up (usualy women dance that way under zurna alone) just like during Iveta Mukuchyan’s performance when zurna sounded and it doesn’t happen. Maybe there will be projections aswell?

    • Mikolas injured himself doing a backflip few days ago in his first rehearsal so now his is in pain and can’t fully shake it.

Regarding Greece, there will only be light effects during bridge so no dancing or interaction with vocalists which perfectly is ok with me. Bubble in OGAE gr disagrees massively though.

  2. Watching the Wiwis going all OMG when talking about Estonia I wonder if they have ever been to the opera. OMG she was so funny when singing in the press centre. Well, it was Offenbach. It is always funny. LOL

  3. According to ESC Portugal, Ana Moura will be opening the final with ‘Fado da Loucura’ (fado of madness):

Salvador Sobral and Caetano Veloso will also perform in the final.

  4. Notes from today’s rehearsal clips:

Azerbaijan: Dull song but inventive staging and a good singer. Done enough to qualify now in 9th or 10th I’s bet.

    Iceland: Nah. NQ.

Albania: Genti was holding back on his vocals – will have more impact as a performance during the jury and actual shows. Liked the camera angles and lights, he emotes well. I have no idea if this will qualify or not, I really hope so, but lean to a no at this point.

Belgium: The chorus is better, and I like the lighting. But too late?

Czech Republic: LOVE the staging ide, Mikolas was solid vocally but we know he’ll be better. Top 3 in the semi.

Lithuania: I see the hype around this as a Q…the last moment of it on the bridge is beautiful. But will people really remember that after what’s coming up? I am doubting it.

Israel: The staging looks much better on camera! She sounded great and it sounded more energetic. The dancers being on the bridge is kinda weird though.

    Belarus: HAHAHAHA. Not qualifying.

Estonia: Nothing to say, it’s going through.

Bulgaria: The face merge and quick camera angles are amazing! Harmonies sounded a bit off. I worry their appearances and the dark staging might turn people off. Defs qualifying.

FYR Macedonia: Bad staging and bad camera angles. His voice is way too dominant I feel. Not qualifying sadly.

Croatia: Professional and great vocals. Can it make an impact with the tekevote? I feel not. Could be pushed by juries though.

Austria: His vocals seemed off, not sure why they are making him move so much. I don’t kniw if this qualifies at this point.

Greece: Love the simple staging and lighting. Blue hand is weird. Defs qualifying.

Finland: Looks very tacky coming after Greece. Bad staging, Saara’s vocals not as solid. Don’t think this is qualifying atm.
