Eurovision 2018 Rehearsals: Day 6

Eurovision 2018 – With two weeks to go to the contest, daily rehearsals start this Sunday and of course the Eurovision Times will do its best to cover them; here’s for the second rehearsals to the first half of semifinal 2 and first rehearsals of finalists: pics and vids will be officially released and we get to discuss, debate, analyze, predict…

So this is how it’ll work for the next 10 days or so: we will resume the system from the last three years. There is an article for the day’s rehearsals published in the morning (or the night before) with the calendar (this year, the new style and format of the official site don’t seem to help look for rehearsals, so on this article you can see a recap). You can comment all day on it, based on all the info you can gather around and as soon as I can, I’ll get working on a recap article with links to pictures, videos, etc. However, I do work (even if both 1st of May and 8th of May are days off in France, which will help) so I’ll do that at the latest in the evening, sooner if possible, depending. Usually, the girls are down there and as you know, this year the girls couldn’t make it to Lisbon.

So we’re all counting on you guys to post in the comment section all the links you find and discuss all material out there. Hope it works out great for everyone, and already a big cheers to all the sites who will post their own made materials.

Here’s tomorrow’s schedule:

Semifinal 1 – Last 4 – Second rehearsal

10:00-10:20 Armenia
10:25-10:45 Switzerland
10:50-11:10 Ireland
11:15-11:35 Cyprus

Semifinal 2 – First 5 – Second rehearsal

11:40-12:00 Norway
13:05-13:25 Romania
13:30-13:50 Serbia
13:55-14:15 San Marino
14:20-14:40 Denmark

Finalists –  First rehearsal

15:05-15:35 Portugal
15:40-16:10 United Kingdom
16:15-16:45 Spain
16:50-17:20 Germany
18:25-18:55 Italy
19:00-19:30 France

There will therefore be 9 countries getting their second taste of the stage. The second rehearsal is 20 minutes long. As usual, in second go, countries reveal much more. It is also followed by an official press conference. The official site publishes photo sets from rehearsals and a a few seconds of what it will actually look like on TV!

For the finalists we’re back to first rehearsal, with just a Greet & Meet and 40s without TV footage!

  1. Reading the reviews so far makes me happy I put $20 on an Italy win a week after Sanremo 😅😅

  2. Well it is safe to say after we saw everything that Russia will most definately win this year.

  3. Spain and Cyprus really fight out on who will win more views on the rehearsal videos today but I think it is in both cases mostly native views.

    • Spain has huge views every year but this is not the case with Cyprus.Whether you like it or not,it’s the performance that has caused the biggest stir, till now.

      • I don’t have any problem with that so there is no need for an aggresive tone – I’ll take almost everyone over Israel.

    • Again, it’s impossible to assess the final outcome. It’s the same stage presentation with a reality TV twist… :( according to what can be read above.

    • Still feels very cold.

    • I like what I see and hear. It is classy and minimalistic – stylish as well. I never thought France had a chance to win so I am not dissapointed with anything here.

  4. Hahhahhaa! Dimi won this round 😃

  5. What are the French bloggers/media saying, Morgan?

  6. And now everyone is off to the Nordic party in Eurovision Village. It’s a bit windy a but chilly as well, atm. :)

  7. Both Italy and France losing ground in the betting odds, just saying…

    • Doesn’t matter one bit. Odds were convinced this time last year that Italy would win by having values at 1:1 and everyone else above 10 or so. The year before Ukraine dropped like a stone after the semi accross the board to values of over 25.

    • ESC Tips:

“Italy were rumoured to have a ‘Jamala tree’ but instead rocked up with multi-language subtitles. Italy’s staging is now a Powerpoint presentation with lyrics as Meta and Moro spend the majority of the song fighting for attention against the on-screen text. It’s a bizarre concept and doesn’t aid the narration of the song. This is poor.

Last up today, Madame Monsieur performed Mercy for France. There are no gimmicks. It’s very much like at the national final but on a much larger stage. They split and take opposing bridges before reuniting on the satellite stage for the middle-eight and close. The outro sees them both flashing their palms to the skies/audience, though I’m not sure what this represents. This is nice and classy, but it still feels more directed to the juries than the average viewer at home. It doesn’t have the intimacy or raw power of 1944 or Amor Pelos Dois. However, it is the most competent of this year’s serious songs, so on that basis it should be respected. By the final run through the camera angles better captured the movement over the bridge.”

    • Spain is not doing any better.

    • And Estonia is skyrocketing. LOL
The odds (just like everyone else) don’t have a clue this year … except for Israel.

  8. So, according to the betting odds every single entry in my top 8 (with the exception of Israel) had bad rehearsals so they decided to give them the thumb down (aka red on the odds’ board) :P :D
Jokes aside, it’s been some years now that this whole “rehearsals” thing is turning into a big farce. Speculation at its’ best.
I’ll be skipping it starting next year.

    • I miss the days when you saw what the stage looked like for the first time during the broadcast. And no way you had heard the songs before, let alone the song that came last in the Swiss preselection.

    • I only read what is being said but don’t watch the footage, with the exception of the German entry. Plus, I couldn’t care less about what the odds think. It is great fun imo. :)

    • sweetie you know I’m with you and to be honest at this stage in ESC, I couldn’t care less who wins ESC, :-) and neither would plenty of people here outside ESC either I guess

    • Betting odds are really killing all the fun…they are shaping up people’s likes
