Eurovision 2017 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on top entries!
2017 will be the fifth year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here, the 2014’s ones here, the 2015’s ones here and the 2016’s ones here). As with the past few years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.
The seventeenth award is in the “Result” category and it’s “Best Top 5 Entry”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:
- 17 Portugal
- 8 Belgium
- 7 Bulgaria
- 2 Moldova
- 1 Sweden
It’s now up to you to vote in our poll below which entry was the best in the Top 5 this year! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song. The nominees in alphabetical order are:
Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration to watch very carefully the videos before voting. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!
if we put aside Romania’s duet, Blanche is the only female act in the Top 10 (then Netherlands and France follow at 11th and 12th)
My vote shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone :-)
Only 2 options here but at the end of the day a no brainer …
Among Belgium, Bulgaria and Sweden it is a close choice. It won’t matter at the end of course but I’ll give my vote to Blanche. Thanks to all 3 for the music.
It’s between Portugal and Bulgaria, I loved both.
Bulgaria is this great mainstream modern ballad with an ethnic touch, sung very well, also very well produced (I loved it from the first listening), the only flaw I see in it it’s that it is a bit generic. Portugal on the other hand is very different from everything we hear these days (the only thing it has in common with Bulgaria is that it’s also a ballad), it’s very retro (I probably wouldn’t have liked it 5 years ago), for me it’s a 50’s-60’s song done extremely well, very emotional, very charming, it’s simplicity at its best combined with the great performance of Salvador this totally won me over, so my vote goes to Portugal!
Belgium my #3
Bulgaria my #19
Moldova my #22
Portugal my #1
Sweden my #16
I voted for Portugal.
Off to watch the CL Final with some friends.
May the… worst of those two least likable football clubs win the trophy :P :D
I genuinely dislike both clubs a lot, and I cheered for Real only for Modric and Bale back then; then I cried for Griezmann who deserved it along with Atletico last year… Now I’ll cheer for Buffon and a few other players I do like at Juventus. Plus I really don’t want a 3rd win in four years for Real.
I dislike both clubs as well. The openeing ceremony was baaaad.
I didnt watch the opening ceremony, I was doing stuff and started watching the game had started for 5 mns!
Enjoy. I don’t watch CL anymore because it is one of those capitalist structures making the big ones even bigger and leaving everyone else behind. :8
You have a point there.
I am now sad about Dybala, and wish I could hug him to comfort him :p
Juventus were as if they never got out on the pitch on second half :o
Levina’s official video for her latest single “Stop Right There” from her first album “Unexpected” released in late April :
Portugal <3 (My #1)
Belgium (my #2)
Moldova (my #7)
Sweden (my # 14)
Bulgaria (my # 16)
Voted for Portugalas well. Football time, now. :)
I split it between Portugal and Belgium so i’m voting for Belgium in this one.
Ι voted Belgium. Portugal and Bulgaria got enough votes from me in previous polls already.
plus “City Lights” was a very interesting choice imo! less on the “safe” side than most internal selection
I voted AZR because as a package I prefer it to Belgium.
Bulgaria and Belgium gave it a run for its money, but it’s always been Portugal, for me. <3
