  1. Off topic: there are now 6 towns (!) that were mentioned as possible host cities:
Santa Maria da Feira, Guimarães, Gondomar, Espinho, Portimão e Lisboa; Lisbon’s Mayor was the only one who still has not declared his interest in hosting ESC 18.

P.S. – there are local elections scheduled for next September/early October.

  2. First ever Frida for Bulgaria (who did come close, 2nd in “Best Internal Choice” last year)!

  3. I am ot surprised wit this result; we’re back in the bubble and the hardcore fans do not like Salvador all that much. Congrats, Bulgaria!

P.S. – it sort of fits the winning female vocals – powerful vocals and vocal gymnastics won both awards. They were both good, but certainly not the best, imo.

  4. I voted for Salvador. A lovely way of singing that matched his song perfectly.

I has never been and will probably never be a fan of the Bulgarian entry this year. In fact, I find it so anonymous that I still (somewhat 15 listenings later) have problems remembering how it goes. But I like Kristian as an artist. Charismatic and charming with a fine singing voice (not great though). Congratulations!

    • I hum it many times a day, especially the first line of the chorus, but I get where you’re coming from, I had the same with a few songs this year, maybe it was just me who wasnt that big into the contest this year, but some songs I couldnt remember until rehearsal week!

      • It’s more a first step concern. As soon as I hear the first notes, I can sing along to it. It’s just that it has never stuck in my memory bank to begin with.

  5. I feel sooo lazy to do the next two Frida articles lol

  6. The hype…
    Of hype…
    At/On/In hype…
    Oh hype…

  7. This is so mehh and underwhelming.Next please…

  8. No no no no no no no no! I’m sorry, but this is voters who are salty that Salvador won (just like in 2014, when The Netherlands won best vocals) and this is why I have my ET Aftermath in September! Sure he had decent vocals, but the song itself is kinda easy to sing and the vocal challenge is on par, when you compare it to Croatia and Portugal! Salvador had a real tecnically and emotionally hard song to sing and he killed it!

This is not a matter of personal taste, this is a fucking disgrace to music itself! Idc, shame on you who voted for Bulgaria instead of Croatia and portugal!

  9. Huge disapoitment. So undeserved.

  10. This is a bit surprising. Salvador was by far my favourite here, but Kristian was my 2nd favourite so I can’t complain.

  11. In my personal humble opinion, sterile won in both vocal categories. I find the male result surprising since I thought Salvador would have an easy and well-deserved victory. In the female category I knew it would be closer, but I thought Finland would prevail in the end, at least as compensation for not qualifying…

  12. I voted for Portugal, I can see why Bulgaria won but it still surprises me. I mean Portugal won televoting this year !!!

    • The hardcore fans and the bubble in general do not like Salvador; it’s payback time.

      • Bubble sucks then. Portugal was really impressing imo

        • Donnie, the bubble cares little about what strays fron their chosen path! They are conservative people in the worst possible meaning of the word.

          • I can understand and totally respect people who tend to prefer the “established” and “safe” path (I even do so many times) but art really needs innovative stuff imo!

            • I agree.

            • However, you do identify yourself as a conservative :P (Just saw your other comment in “best internal choice” thread)

            • I’ve always seen myself as a conservative; but my definition of conservantism is not what most conservatives parties stand for nowadays. Let’s leave it at that. :)

          • Bulgaria did extemely well in both televoting and with juries. It’s not just the bubble. It’s a matter of taste. Bulgaria is fantastic pop entry. I also think that there are lots of people who liked both Salvador and Kristian like me. Some people have very wide hotizons when it comes to music.

            • Of course, but Salvador won both sets of votes. The bubble thinks otherwise and that is all I am saying and have always said. I also think that Kostove sang well, but being the best? No, only the bubble would think that and they have every right to think so.

            • But wasn’t Salvador hugely popular in Wiwibloggs too and in many parts of bubble?
Yes, Salvador won both set of votes and I think like many that he is one of the best winners ever, so does he really need this Frida? 😃

            • It’s not a question of needing; it’s about the best male vocals and his certainly weren’t, imo.

            • What I’m saying it’s not the end of the world nor a reason to judge people based on their taste. Kristian is very good pop singer and he did excellent job with a pop song. If you like pop music, it was an obvious choice. And like I said, I’m sure he got lots of votes because of this bashing that has been going on ever since he became a contender.

            • I am not bashing him; I am just saying he is a good singer, but that his live vocals were not the best; where is the bashing?

            • I didn’t say you were bashing him but he is one of the most bashed artists round here this season.

            • I see. The same could be said about other singers, if one reads on-line comments.

            • Of course. On this case I was referring tonET and Kristian as I’m not much of a comment reader. And like I said in my first comment, this was Salvador’s trophy.

  13. This was a surprise, but I’m not complaining. Bulgaria was my #2. Kristian is very able pop singer, very good tonality in his voice. Also kind of funny that Kristian’s fans get their revenge of all the Boy Kostov bashing with Frida(s) 😃
    But yeah, this was Salvador’s.

  14. Well, once again, it was a flawless performance by Kristian, but the most flawless performances are not necessarily the most interesting once. I know at least one vocal performance that is better on an artistic level.

  15. Another one that excelled in technique but failed in artistry. The Frida results are awful this year … LOL

  16. Kill me: I’ve voted for Jacques.
As we had to judge the Grand Final’s performances, Portugal was my 2nd, Bulgaria my 3rd. I had Portugal 1st and Bulgaria 2nd with their performances in their semifinal.
Comparing Portugal and Bulgaria, for me Kristian’s vocals are more important than the vocals of Salvador because I enjoy the composition and the lyrics of the Portuguese entry.
