  1. Switzerland is not that bad, but Belgium gets my vote here.

  2. Hmm, I wonder who’ll take this one?? I’m also wondering what colour the sky is and who’s the current president of the US.

  3. At least the Swiss song isn’t plagiarized.

  4. It will be interesting to see what the juries think of the plagiarism issue. If they take their job seriously, they should know about it.

    • They don’t care. They are just 5 people who happen to vote for the songs they like most. Like all of us.

      • In Germany they are all part of the music industry. :)

        • Yeah, in the Netherlands too. So we have 5 people working in the music industry voting for the songs they like most.
In 2015 the international juries didn’t care about the plagiarism claims of Heroes. In fact those juries decided that it was the best song that year.

    • They wont care, they heavily favoured Denmark 2011, which basically was the same song as ”sing for life” with Andreas Johnson, so I dont think they will care. Once the song is accepted by the EBU, then all the songs who compete should be treated equally in the scoring, even if it has practically the same sound as another song.

      • I can’t say way but I have the impression that the way juries vote has changed quite significantly over the past 5 years.
And I like BEL17 anyway because it is a different interpretation of a very similar song. I’ve always thought that originality is overhyped. Almost everything has been done before these days.

  5. Belgium easily! In the whole controversy of ”City Lights” I still think that Blanche version is a much better one, even if it’s a little sad that they took so much inspiration from the original version.

  6. Frankly,i don’t see what’s the fuss about.I can hear some similarities with the Canadian song but “City lights” is much better from every aspect.

    • It’s pretty much a diiferent take on the same song with English lyrics, Dimitri. I do agree that the Belgian version is better though.

  7. Belgium :)
    I always skip Apollo

  8. If you are feeling alone… I’ve voted for “Apollo” :)

  9. Voted for Belgium.

  10. I just listened to the song it is said to be plagiarizing. Well, there are similarities, but also differences. In the French song I can hear parallels to other songs as well (“She’s the One” from DMGP 2014, or the verse in Kashmir’s “The Aftermath” from 2003). It has a lighter tone than the Belgian entry this year.

It’s almost impossible to write songs that don’t resemble something else. You can always find something if you want to search for it. Belgium still gets my vote :-)

    Kashmir – “The Aftermath”:

  11. If we as talking about a real serious case, it would be “Dreaming” (Ireland 1995) vs. Julie Felix’ “Moonlight”. The melody and chords in the verses are practically 1 to 1.

  12. This must be the easiest duel! Belgium by a mile!

  13. Belgium sounds fantastic if you forget how it is “inspired” from another song!

  14. Even I voted for Belgium and I don’t like it..

    01 pt—AZERBAIJAN
    02 pts—ESTONIA
    03 pts—AUSTRALIA
    04 pts—BULGARIA
    05 pts—FYROM
    06 pts—FRANCE
    07 pts—PORTUGAL
    08 pts—SWEDEN
    10 pts—BELGIUM
    12 pts—ITALY

    • I expect big points from Iceland do Portugal this year. They have always had a soft spot for Portuguese ESC entries. :)
Pretty good votes all in all. Plus Denmark isn’t there. I fear the worst for Anja.

      • Yes,i expect Iceland and Finland from the Nordics to support Portugal.
You fear fot the worst for Anja?Liar!lol
I think she’ll have no problem qualifying.

        • She’s very lucky to be in semi-final 2 indeed. But if she doesn’t qualify, she can always go for her second career option as a gay cruise ship singer (credits to Hjallis) performing shouty and melodramatic ballads. :)
          Kalinichta Dimi. :)

    • This could be the closest to my vote: 8 of my top 10 :o and my 9th is Iceland while theirs is Estonia lol! I also have Finland instead of France (which is my 14th)

  16. Honestly, I cannot hear how “City Lights” could be plagiarized. There’s nothing that similar between the songs except the rhythm in the chorus?
