ETSC – Every year, the summer is the calm after the storm so it’s the perfect time to resume the highly anticipated the Eurovision Times Song Contest! Each one of you can represent an European country and get to send a song and then vote in a fake Eurovision! Signing up opens soon!
Each summer, a good number of regular readers stay around for different reasons (they don’t get breaks from work or don’t go on holidays…) but there aren’t much news to keep us going. So the last few years we introduced all sort of games. The Eurovision Times Awards (Fridas) and the Douze Points Trivia Quiz kept us going in 2013 and Fridas have made come-backs the past four years. Two years ago, a lot of you asked for a fake Eurovision where each one of us would send songs and get to vote. And that was it: the Eurovision Times Song Contest, from then on known as ETSC.
We’ve had five editions, two in 2014: July 2014 and August 2014, both won by France; the third edition was held in July 2015 and won by the United-Kingdom; the fourth edition was held in Augusut 2015 and was won by Austria. Last month, the fifth edition was helf and won by Israel’s Asaf Avidan with “Gold Shadow“. For more information, you can discover our new page dedicated to the contest, with its history, all songs participating and the rankings here. You can also find it by clicking on the “Specials” section of the site, in the top menu in the red box, just under the site’s name. “ETSC 6 – August 2016” will be officially held in Jerusalem and as for venue, it’ll be the Al-Hakawati Theater! And a somewhat innovative host, as it’ll be entirely animated by Ari Folman‘s work! The logo for it is inspired by the winner again:
Rules: for this contest, you need to sign up chosing one European country. Once the country will be confirmed as yours for this edition, you’ll be able to send a song officially from the country by email only and it cannot be more than 6 years old (this 2010’s decade). However, there are no language rules but it’s up to you to consider if other members will be nice or not to your song based on the language… Since it’s an online contest, there are no time limits and the song can be as long as you want, and performed by as many people you want. But it needs to be recent and definitely related to the country you’re representing one way or another. For each entry, I’ll do a bit of research to make sure your entry is playable, but you can send me some links with your song to help me make sure. Also, you must make sure the song is available online on a platform so that every one can hear it. A promotion video is only an extra bonus but not mandatory (last edition three of the Top 5 did not have one). Last but not least, as seen in the polls the song can not have taken part in Eurovision or a national final but for the artist we get to a different rule. ESC artists are allowed for “small countries” (debatable which, but often I’m open to discussion with you) and NF and ETSC artists are allowed for all. Don’t forget, ETSC is also about discovering new music for us all! In general, everything has to be talked out with me in private. Depending on the number of participants, probably not all countries will be taken again. However, you’ll have a few days to pick your song once a country is being attributed to you, so don’t rush! Since I have postcards to do, I’d rather not have change of songs now!
Once everyone has sent its entry, they’ll be revealed on ET and the voting period will be open. You’ll vote by email to me and to make sure my personal votes are fair (and that I don’t change them to the last minute in case it’s a close race), I will email mine to the first voter, whoever that is. Once everyone voted, I will reveal the votes in a dramatic finish and we’ll see which song will be crown our second summer song! Once you’ve voted, you can not change your votes (especially since some people drop hints of their own votes on the posts)!
There is no signing up article on ET and the official opening time to select your country for August 2016 is officially… Tuesday 2nd at 8 PM CET! You’ll be able to select by emailing me on artemismorgan@hotmail.com only! You can send up to a Top 5 of your favorite countries so that, if you’ve sent your email early enough but your #1 country is already chosen, you get your second pick and so on and so forth. Afterwards, you have an entire week to decide on your song, until Sunday 7th at noon CET.
In bold if your song has ben approved!

I am back home sweet home. The beach was great, the coffee not so much (Spain is notorious in my country for its bad coffee LOL). I still have a few things to do, but I want to start looking for a song as soon as I can. I missed the opening ceremony and its array of colours, unfortunately.
P.S. I – my Brazilian cousins loved it according to their latest mail.
P.S. II – the Algerian song will be on its way tomorrow morning.
Latvia entry has just been sent
You will like it
Ukraine has submitted its entry. It’s a sing I’ve known almost as long as its been out. Almost switched to a new song I found this week, but I stuck with my original choice.
I am back home and hope to find a song once I am awake again … G’night.
Both Toggie and Shevek are within a chance to send a song on time after all! Anyway, once I’ve gotten all songs, I’ll draw the entries randomly and post the draw Sunday evening. The reveal will be very likely Tuesday night.
Damn! I’m working Tuesday night !!!
Robert says; how can you possibly work. You are in Greece :p
I am drunk. I had 3 pints of German beers and spend the whole day under the sun….
So it seems like you are aiming for a top 10 this time. No Belgian beers! :P
The bar we went don’t do Belgian beers, so I had to settle down with German ones. Have you ever tasted Benediktiner? It is a great beer.
I don’t remember. Probably not. I’m not into alcohol that much !
http://www.bitburger-international.com/benediktiner/products/benediktiner-weissbier/
Pay no attention do him Donnie – he is a drunken slut. He has only had half a pint of shandy and he is rolling on the floor drunk.
That;s not true. It was fancy German beer I had.
You are just drunk on the fact a guy came on to you tonight.
Not my type.
Fussy.
What state is Dino in right now?
He is very giggly and eating everything in the house. He is a nightmare.
Is he behaving? I mean sexually?
He turned down the offer from someone earlier – so Norwich has been unsuccessful for him.
That means he is in a selective state. Shows maturity :P
I wouldn’t say that :) He has calmed down a bit now.
He has been selective, at least for one night in his life :P
Let him sleep, let alcohol do its job. It’s the only way to keep him sedated
There is a first time for everything ;) He will sleep well tonight.
LOL!Poor Rob.Show him this video to get him off your back for a while:
Thanks – he is watching it on a loop. That will keep him busy for a few hours.
He has watched it about 50 times now!
And he is caressing the screen…
lol!I can’t blame him tbh.Thanasis is super sexy.
He is obsessed with him!
All night?
I have a shift in the hospital :P (till 08: 00 am)
Don’t you have a smartphone?
Well , there are PCs in the hospitals too, you know, but it will all depend on the shift. Some shifts are rather calm…
Robert may cover you he is familiar with medical environments.
But we don’t want Rob to miss the fun either, right?
Stop mocking my illnesses!
So all night! Sorry! Well we’ll see how others react to the reveal day, it can be moved one day or another if the majority thinks so!
Whatever works for you Morgan!
Let’s see what others think about it. Thanks!
So it seems we’ll be 45 again!
Can’t wait! :D
Songs from few countries (Latvia included?) are still missing
Bay has sent his entry so it may be just that Morgan hasn’t checked it yet.It happened with my entry too.
WOOWW they are great!
Make sure you drink a lot of Belgian beer before you vote. You gave me 12 pts the last time. :P
If it is on Sunday or Tuesday I will drink nothing.
The important thing is drinking while you’re voting and not when we listen to the songs.
Hopefully the remaining Balkan songs will find their way to ETSC 6 :)
Any night is fine with me.
That is your grindr motto.
lol
It applies to a specific segment of the population though.
Not when you have had half a pint….
I don’t have a problem.Whatever suits you.The more the merrier.
Is that your grindr motto too?
lol! No.Definitely not the more the merrier for me in that department.
Actually that is another of Dino’s mottoes!
He must have some criteria. He can’t be into every black guy. :P
I think he has started to become fussy and introduce some criteria after a long time of being less so.
Is Thanasis on the video as well?
Hmm.Who’s on the video?
Giannis must be the guy on the left. I don’t recognise the other two.
Err.Are u that drunk?Giannis is driving and Thanasis is the guy next to him.The kid on the back is their younger brother Kostas.
Yes! Albania is in!
And welcome David!
Thanks for the welcome Donnie……I hope my selection will do well for Albania. :)
So I sent Instrumenti and I dont have any idea they have been in ETSC 1
I should’ve double checked it
you can use ETSC page to check former Latvian entries!
Postcards are ready for 85% of entries. Request yours already! The draw has been made, with one spot saved for Toggie! It will be revealed tonight!
I’m happy :)
Postcard , please ! :P
I knew youd ask. You got it in your mail before you asked :p
Lol! I hadn’t checked. Just arrived home and the first thing to do was to check ET :p
Thanks!
Kss! I do that, but that’s only to check if we didnt have weirdos posting weird stuff to delete lol! it’s only during the height of esc season though, with lots of spams!
Could you send me my postcard plix? I’m curious to see the design :D
Oh I always appreciate the postcard ^-^
Funny fact: one of the ETSC 6 artists did a song titled just like the name of another ETSC 6 artist lol
The tbd delegation is searching for a song now …
Moldova!?
Good luck! Try watching the opening ceremony while you do it.
The Algerian song has just been sent. (happy emoji) It’s uptempo (but very different from Portugal’s ETSC 5 entry) and it’s sung in French by a female singer.
P.S. – I sort of glimpsed through the opening ceremony while listening to algerian sounds and loved the show Fernando Meirelles put on. The clothes were too nondescript for this type of event – I particularly enjoyed the Cook Islands and some other nation towards the end whose female athletes wore beautiful long green dresses. Sweden, Germany, Australia, Italy, Portugal were simply ugly whereas USA, France and Great Britain were boring – South Korea went down that road more successfully.
It’s been accepted! :)
Welcome officially then !
Btw, the Bosnian entry is offering a bit of “saudade”
Hope you like it!
I hope so too.
It seems like we’ll end up 45 again with Togravus.
However songs from Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro are missing
On the Tuesday issue – every night is fine by me, except Thursday’s.
Well, what about tomorrow? Or Wednesday?
Boths days would be fine, bu that’s up to Morgan. I guess it’s almost impossible to find a day that is convenient for 45 different persons at the same time.
Yes, I know. What fits Morgan most !
And then what suits most HoDs.
I almost forgot, Morgann please send me the Algerian postcard when you can.
P.S. – more on the opening ceremony: Canada and Indonesia also made the right choices, imo.
*Morgan
Turkey has (finally!) sent its officialy entry and we are very happy with our choice. It was either a typical Turkish ballad or more risky indie: in the end I went with the indie band. *add happy and emotionally drained emoji*
There were a lot of potential songs, this songhowever is very much suited for the ETSC-crowd. Some hints regarding our entry:
– Indie rock band
– Establaihed themselves in the 90’s
– Music video is “Matrix-friendly”
– Turkish language
Hope you guys like it and that I dis mermaid proud! :D
Sounds interesting, looking forward to it!
Good luck! :)
Good Luck ovidarch ❤️
Headquarters:
FYR Macedonia.
Balkans full house!
I knew it ;)
Btw, there is some sad news about floods claiming lives in Skopje last night :(
Oh … I haven’t watched the news yet.
Watching the news these last few weeks has been a nightmare :(
I hope you had a great time in Andalusia… ;)
Andalusia was fantastic, as always. Yesterday, we visited the Casa Alpujarreña in Bubión and got a 2 hour long private tour of the house by a lovely lady. I feel like knowing everything about Bubión now. Plus, I got a small bag of thyme as farewell present. Thyme is my favourite herb.
The news have been terrible for several years now … Most people (both in the streets and in power) are bad, corrupted and stupid.
Ubeda and Baeza are my priorities when it comes to visiting Andalusia.
If you visit Baeza, don’t miss dinner in the Restaurante Los Arcos. I have had the best dinner in a very long time there.
Noted!
Fort Togravus!
I thought it was San Marino haha !
In case it is Monday, what time are we starting?
Whilst the Turkish broadcaster OTRB (Ovidarch Television & Radio Broadcaster) were selecting their entry, I got the honour of finding our gorgeous spokesperson! Let me introduce you to Turkish supermodel and TV-presenter, Kaan Akinci:
Kaan will certainly add some spice to the competition and win ‘Sexiest spokesperson of ETSC6’ for sure. ;)
Nice ;)
He won’t! Just wait and see my viking boy 😃
Have u seen our spokesperson?
Looks like a Belgian football player …
Fellaine :p
Very, very sexy face! He just needs to get rid of that wig and his mother’s blouse 😃
Hmmm interesting, can’t wait to see… :D
Yeah, we’ll see. There as many tastes in spokespersons as there are with entries, but Makwan Amirkhani went down extremely well in ETSC5, so much better than Finnish entry. We all have our key competencies 😃
Nice indeed …
Hmmm,I haven’t heard of him :)
Had I participated,Sukru Ozyildiz would have been my spokesperson😍

Omg, what a race by Katinka Hosszu!!!
Damn, i thought it was live! Lol
I agree.
The programming is bad.The evening events kick off at 22:00 local time instead of the usual 19:00.Plus,we get to see the preliminaries live while it would be best if ERT decided to broadcast the taped finals instead. On a more positive note, yeah for the first medal!
yes, to fit NBC and American TV viewers… apparently they paid the most, too bad for Europe and most importantly too bad for the ATHLETES! Sport 0 – Money 1
Yeah but keeping it the usual time would be better for everyone.
The only right time is the perfect time for the athletes who want to be at their best
Yayyy indeed! Btw, i was watching judo last night. Love it. I love wrestling too (watching it that is, lol).
Apart from the track and field events i love gymnastics and diving. Now the preliminaries for 400 m freestyle women. It’s so sad the the reigning Olympic champion,Camille Muffat is now dead. :(
I heard it from the commentator :(
I love diving too.
Yes, Muffat is gone, so is Vastine in that same helicopter tragedy!
I love gymnastics, did you see the French accident yesterday? and in the end he came first in the rings too :'(
Yes,i had heard about their tragic accident when it happened. And i also watched Ait Said’s accident.I wish i hadn’t.
The Algarian headquarters will be outside in the beatiful Jardin D’essai El-Hamma in Alger.
Now that’s what I call head quarters!
Thanks, it’s a very summery choice!
It’s beautiful! Gardening is actually one of my favourite hobbies, love to get to know places like this even if it’s only in photos.
Love it!
How lovely, it reminds me of a place here in N.Ireland
Michos, Algeria has invited the Duchesse de Plaisance to spend a few days at the Jardin and she said yes. :)
I wanted to ask Serbia’s spokespersons to Iceland to teach me some water polo in Blue Lagoon, but this bloody Rio got on the way!
Tell my best to Duchesse!
:P
Dlo?
“Payız Gəldi” means “Autumn has come” which niceley sets the tone after my vacation is over! Vulgarrix is a 24-year-old DJ and producer who has been in the music business for two years.
