Ukraine 2017 – The Ukrainian broadcaster NTU will tonight broadcast a 2-hour special programme called Battle of the City at 17:40 (CET) which will showcase the 6 cities hoping to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. You can watch online here.
The 6 cities that are bidding to host the event are:
Odessa and Dnipro have produced promotional videos:
The two finalists will be visited over the next week by the judging parties, made up of NTU, the ESC 2017 Committee and the EBU, to inspect all aspects of the bids. The winner will be announced on August 1st 2016. Hopefully the definite dates will be confirmed then too.
Thinking about infrastructure, transport and most importantly accommodation, the favourites are likely to be Kyiv and Lviv. Last year’s winner Jamala has however already lent her support to Odessa.
Which two do you think will be announced as the two finalists?
Once we know what city will host the contest on 1st August, it will only be one month until songs can start to be selected and the 2017 season will begin in earnest!
