Ukraine 2017: 6 Cities Battle to be Host Tonight

Eurovision 2017Ukraine 2017 – The Ukrainian broadcaster NTU will tonight broadcast a 2-hour special programme called Battle of the City at 17:40 (CET) which will showcase the 6 cities hoping to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. You can watch online here

The 6 cities that are bidding to host the event are:

  • Kyiv
  • Lviv
  • Kharkiv
  • Dnipro
  • Kherson
  • Odessa

Odessa and Dnipro have  produced promotional videos:

The two finalists will be visited over the next week by the judging parties, made up of  NTU, the ESC 2017 Committee and the EBU, to inspect all aspects of the bids. The winner will be announced on August 1st 2016. Hopefully the definite dates will be confirmed then too.

Thinking about infrastructure, transport and most importantly accommodation, the favourites are likely to be Kyiv and Lviv. Last year’s winner Jamala has however already lent her support to Odessa.

Which two do you think will be announced as the two finalists?

Once we know what city will host the contest on 1st August, it will only be one month until songs can start to be selected and the 2017 season will begin in earnest!

  1. Odessa or Lviv.

  2. The results on the 2 finalists will be announced on Friday.According to reports,Kyiv and Dnipro made the strongest impression.

  3. A comment on the official site says hotels for Lviv are all sold out so its a favourite

  4. Yes 2 finalists will now be Friday. If Lviv is already sold out it does;t sound like they have capacity, does it? #JustSaying

I provisionally booked in Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa. And now for probably all the wrong dates. So Dnipro will probably win and change the dates again lol.

  5. Does Dnipro have enough infrastructure for the contest? Kinda like picking Cleveland over New York City.

Kyiv is the obvious choice, and they can do satellite host cities like what Malta is doing for JESC this year.
