ET Awards 2016: Best Top 5 Entry!

fridas 2016Eurovision 2016 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on top entries!

2016 will be the fourth year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here, the 2014’s ones here, and the 2015’s ones here). As with the past few years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The seventeenth award is in the “Result” category and it’s “Best Top 5 Entry”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 15 Ukraine
  • 3 Bulgaria
  • 2 Australia
  • 2 Sweden
  • 1 Russia

It’s now up to you to vote in our poll below which entry was the best in the Top 5 this year! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song. The nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Russia‘s Sergey Lazarev (3rd)

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration to watch very carefully the videos before voting. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  1. Easily UKRAINE !
Australia was quite repetitive and CAMP, Russia was desperate and flat.
Sweden was boring, pretentious MTV wanna-sound contemporary/hipster stuff with cringe-worthy lyrics (as always) and quite overrated same as Malta.
Bulgaria was quite ok but nowhere near Ukraine artistically.

  2. Sweden and Australia were also VERY good and got two very well deserved top 5 placings with two contemporary, well performed songs that performed better than any other entry after esc and entered the mainstream music scene with ease and success but I have to vote for Ukraine here.

I have to add both Sweden and Australia excelled both in the lyrics and the composition department as well as the performance though.

  3. I will go for Ukraine here.

  4. As I know Ukraine will probably easily win im gonna go with Australia ;D

  5. Ukraine. It’s my favourite song of the year after all.

  6. This is by far the easiest pick for me! Ukraine!

  7. Ukraine.
I sort of enjoy Bulgaria and Sweden (if I ignore the silly lyrics) too. Sorry but I don’t like Australia and Russia at all.

  8. Ukraine all the way. The remaining 4 songs do very little for me.

  9. Ukraine, definitely, even if I actually like all songs here except Russia.

  10. How can anyone get pleasure from Ukraine’s song ?? It is by far the worst winner ever … and it is political, I thought politics were not allowed !! 😠
