ET Awards 2016: Best Spokeperson!

fridas 2016Eurovision 2016 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on backings and backdrop!

2016 will be the fourth year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here, the 2014’s ones here, and the 2015’s ones here). As with the past few years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The twelveth award is in the “Delegation” category and it’s “Best Spokeperson”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 9 Ukraine
  • 7 France
  • 1 Australia
  • 1 Belgium
  • 1 Estonia
  • 1 Georgia
  • 1 Moldova
  • 1 Sweden

However, it’s down to the staff of Eurovision Times to choose the official nominees. But it’s up to you to vote in our poll below which entry had the best spokeperson this year! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song. The nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Australia‘s Lee Lin Chin (voted #26)
  • Belgium‘s Umesh Vangaver (voted #27)
  • France‘s Élodie Gossuin (voted #14)
  • Sweden‘s Gina Dirawi (voted #42)
  • Ukraine‘s Verka Serduchka (voted #36)

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration to watch very carefully the votes before voting and do not vote necessarly for your favorite song but vote regarding to the category. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  1. Verka and her mom with the bottle!

  2. I thought that the spokespersons this year were pretty dull and clumsy! :P
Verka was the most entertaining by far for me. Elodie was cute.

  3. Lee Lin Chin decimates everyone in this category once again.

  4. Ukraine followed by France :)

  5. Lee Lin Chin by a mile! Verka would be a great green room host next year (imagine her after a few drinks!), and the others were a breath of fresh air as well.

  6. Verka was fantastic and I hope we see more of her next year, but the fantastically unscripted moment of Elodie trying to sing the chorus of the French entry totally wins my vote. That along with the Norwegian jury’s 12 to Italy was the highlight of the voting sequence this year.

  7. Sieben, sieben, eins, zwei!
    Verka! Verka! Verka!

  8. Verka of course and I really hope we see her host next year!

  9. I liked Moldova the best but since the Moldovan lady was not included in the line-up, I’ll vote for Ukraine.

  10. Both Ukraine and France were funny even though one of them didn’t try to be :) I hated the way points were announced this year -to fast and cold and most of the time didn’t manage understand what countries recived …
    Verka got my vote!

  11. Discretion and professionalism are paramount here. Most spokepersons see things differently, making me pay little attention to them.

  12. Ukraine!

  13. As I think Ukraine will win this, im gonna vote for Elodie, she was just so random and funny even if I didn’t understand half of what she said XD #youuuyouououyouou

  14. I am sad I have to vote for one of the most hateful acts of the dark era of esc here but it is the only spokesperson I remember so my vote goes to Ukraine unfortunately..
