Eurovision 2016 Rehearsals: Day 5

eurovision sweden 2016Eurovision 2016 – With two weeks to go to the contest, daily rehearsals start today and of course the Eurovision Times will do its best to cover them; here’s for the second rehearsals to the first semifinal: pics and vids will be officially released and we get to discuss, debate, analyze, predict…

So this is how it’ll work for the next 10 days or so: we will resume the system from last year. This is, there’s an article for the day’s rehearsals published the morning (or night before, knowing myself) with the calendar, which you can also find on the official site here. You can comment all day on it, based on all the info you can gather around and as soon as I can, I’ll get working on a recap article with links to pictures, videos, etc. However, I do work and have busy weeks at work ahead of me so I’ll do that at the latest in the evening, sooner if possible, depending. Usually, the girls are down there and as you know, this year ET did not get a pass, so they’ll be following from here and will help publishing any news article.

So we’re all counting on you guys to post in the comment section all the links you find and discuss all material out there. Hope it works out great for everyone, and already a big cheers to all the sites who will post their own made materials (Esckaz, Escxtra, Escinsight and the infamous Esctoday come to mind).

  1. Ok i see how go again this year no diferent that every year , Rusia must win this time , is clear that the boyfriend from Putin must win , chapo , they kill the gays in rusia but putin(is he merried , have childrens???) is the bosss, to vomit , really with all respect lol

  2. Just saw the pic set for the french rehearsal and the stage looks beautiful, Amir looks sharp and he seems comfortable.

This literally feels like a well co ordinated effort to take France out of the picture to make this a Russia v. Ukraine thing. I dont think it will work personally.
France seems to be in the game and strong.

  3. Has the French video been posted?

  4. Ugh those comments over and over for France. Lets wait to watch the video and then judge…

  5. HE MUST JUST WIN , PLEASEEE

  6. Nothing seems wrong with the backdrop…those wiwiguys!!!!!

  7. IS THE BEST WITH DIFERENCE , GENIAL

  8. As for the rest I have watched so far.
Cyprus. I don’t mind the cages and I do like the song. I hope they up their energy levels on the night as I want this in the final. Austria. Such a charming song and she is rather lovely. I like the backdrop but am not so sure this will make the final. Estonia. I never seen his national final win. I quite like this. The card trick isn’t that bad. I would say this will make it. Montenegro, another one that does nothing for me. Too noisy and too much strobe lightning effects. Iceland. Am undecided on this entry. It has some great elements but overall it doesn’t grab me. Bosnia & Herzegovina, whilst I am delighted to have them back in the contest, this is messy and tacky. Such a pity. Malta.Another average entry from Malta (The sooner Destiny gets to represent Malta the better chance I think they will have of winning). I always wish them to do well but that dancer is a waste of time and an irritant.
I love both the French and Spanish entries this year but alas, I have a feeling they will be at the lower end of the table although even though I haven’t seen either of them yet. I hope I am proven wrong.

  9. Why only 49 secs? :P
Anyway, I don’t get all this negative feedback. Amir is fantastic on stage.
Having said that though, and as much I’d love a French victory, this not winning material.
It’s official now: it will all be between Ukraine and Russia. Hoping for a surprise though.
    Good night, everyone.

    • Because it is their first rehearsal.

    • It is not between Ukraine and Russia. Russia is not in the picture anymore, even winning his semi might be problematic. If France doesn’t deliver Lena-like by having a true hit and pure charm alone (because this is what it will take) then it’s Jamala the runaway winner – the complete package for both jury and televote, voice and emotion, song and staging. I know we don’t want to jinx it but I really don’t see any other possibility.

  10. Semi 1 Who I’d like to see qualify (at this point)
Hungary, Netherlands, Armenia, Russia, Czech Republic, Cyprus,Austria, Estonia, Iceland, Malta

  11. If must be a surprise must be Barei , far far away the best this year, with big big diference , Spain without doubt is also wining material .that is actual fresh energetic , modern is totally 2016,

  12. My Prediction (give or take):
    1) Russia
    2) Armenia
    3) Malta
    4) Netherlands
    5) Czech Republic
    6) Estonia
    7) Hungary
    8) Iceland
    9) Croatia
    10) Cyprus
    ——
    11) Austria
    12) Greece
    13) Bosnia and Herzegovina
    14) Finland
    15) Azerbaijan
    16) Moldova
    17) San Marino
    18) Montenegro

  13. Look guys the whole thing will play between France and Russia. For 3 – 5 places i predict: Ukraine, Australia and Armenia ( or Bulgaria ) .

  14. My Prediction for 1 semi after rehearsals ( included neighbour and political voting ) :
    1) Russia ( Each broadcaster will get good money from Russia’s televoting ) 2) Armenia ( televoting will help it a lot but also juries )
    3) Hungary ( Juries and televoting will help it a lot )
    4) Cyprus ( televoting will help it a lot )
    5) Czech Republic ( Juries will vote like a crazy for this )
    6) Estonia ( juries will help it a lot )
    7) Austria ( televoting will help it a lot )
    8) Netherlands ( Good song Juries and Televoting will vote it )
    9) Greece ( Greece was on bottom of my list but after rehearsals I thing juries will appreciate it ) .
    10) Azerbaijan ( I like the song in video but live she is really bad live, but is ..Azerbaijan :) )
    ——
    11) Croatia ( will loose the final because Azerbaijan spent more money here and there )
    12) Bosnia ( will take some points from Sweden, Austria, Albania and 10 – 12 points from Montenegro & Croatia )
    13) Malta ( poor Malta :( )
    14) Iceland ( most probably will be punish from juries because of Mans & Loreen copy )
    15) Montenegro ( have sure 8 – 12 points from Croatia and Bosnia )
    16) Finland ( 8 – 12 points from Estonia & maybe some points from Sweden )
    17) Moldova ( Some points from 2 – 3 Balkan/Eastern countries )
    18) San Marino ( maybe some points from Azerbaijan because of Turkish singer )

  15. SPAIN:

  16. France – people seem to be overreacting. That is not a winning performance, but I never expected it to be.

Spain – this song is fun and energetic, but while Belgium has managed to spruce things up quite nicely, Spain’s performance seems to always be too close to crashing at any given moment.

    • I agree. The good thing is that they didn’t mess with it.It’s simple and could look nice on camera with the right shots and lights.I believe the big drop with the bookies is because they didn’t see something to make them go wow stage-wise or to make them scream it’s a winner.
Spain is ok too.I quite liked what i saw.

    • you are right as always, let’s see how Spain and France look in the next rehearsals but I have my doubts, I also have my doubts about Spain/France 2017, , my understanding is that depending on ESC 16 they will probably not bother in 2017

  17. France : It is VERY solid, looks good and sounds good. What bookies seem to forget is that a lack of an extreme staging does not disqualify someone from being a winner. Lena did not have one, Emmelie did not have one, Loreen did not have one, heck not even Ell and Nikki or Conchita had one. And Mans that had it, had a concept and a good song to go with it. This is still on track to compete for the trophy.

Spain : Its the worst I have heard from Barei and I am shocked because she usually has killer vocals ! Not sure aboht her outfit either. This needs polishing.

  18. Also tomorrow I ll check the first rehearsals of Italy, UK and Germany and then probably take most of the day off esc. Had an overdose these days :-P
