eurovision sweden 2016Eurovision 2016 – With two weeks to go to the contest, daily rehearsals start today and of course the Eurovision Times will do its best to cover them; here’s for the first rehearsals to the first half of semifinal 1: pics and vids have been officially released, so tell us what you think so far!

This is how it works: for each country, you can click on the picture to see a full photoset, or in the song’s title to watch the recap video (the artist’s name will redirect you to the participant’s official page on Eurovision.tv).

So that’s it for today’s rehearsals. Tomorrow, there’ll be 8 more (the last 8 from semi 2). So stay tune!

  1. Thanks for all your work, Morgan. Serbia won the day and Australia is a serious contender for the win, imo. Tomorrow is another day. Good night. :)

  2. Based on the pictures of Serbia, like this one: http://www.eurovision.tv/save-files/resizes/9a/c5/93/da/0c/0a/35/3b/ec/69/53/79/bb/09/5a/ff/TH000014_8.jpg

doesnt it look exactly like the 2007 Serbian victory?

  3. As things happen: I’ve been invited on a holiday to la belle France next week, and given my travel company ain’t the biggest ESC fans (understatement) around, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to watch the grand final live. But given that France is a predicted winning candidate, I might at least get the chance to see the French party on the streets in case they’ll win… or not, lol.

Anyway, this requires some re-planning and I think I’ll have to abandon my earlier decision to skip the rehearsals. The Belarussian looks particularly… ehm, fascinating.

  4. Everyone I see Rykka, I go ROFL … and everytime I see Nicky, I faint … *faints*

  5. Everythind went almost as expected today. With Belarus being slightly better than expected. I think overall Serbia was the best.
Btw, is it me or many of the backgrounds look almost the same? I hope some of them will change next week.

  6. Israel was the best today and Latvia,Australia and Serbia delivered.Poland,FYROM and Lithuania are all possible qualifiers.Belarus was better than expect and i liked the use of graphics.SWI and IRE are the 2 definite non qualifiers, imo.

  7. My mood is officially spoiled today due to the usual vulgar behaviour from some usual suspects so there is no point to comment any further on today’s rehearsals. Some people are determined out there to not allow others enjoy the esc season with their condenscending attitude. They will receive their answer one way or another though.

All I will say is congrats to Rykka for her class, her vocals and her overall stage presence. She deserves to do well.
And also congrats to Dami Im for bringing a contemporary, credible, emotional song with depth in the contest and performing it almost flawlessly.

    Goodnight.

    • Good night Guitar, everyone.

    • I honestly fail to understand why different opinions bug you so much. They don’t do any harm. In fact, they are the foundation of democratic societies. I have MAK16 in my top 5 but today it was evident that Kaliopi had a bad day. I said so but still love and support her. Rykka had better vocals today but a ludicrous styling. What is the problem?

      Good night.

  8. Thumbs Up: Serbia, Australia, Israel, Latvia and Lithuania.
OK: Belarus, FYR Macedonia and Poland.
    Thumbs down: Switzerland and Ireland.

  9. This was good fun day, thank you everyone!
Serbia, Latvia, FYRM, Lithuania will be bloody perfect next week.
    Nicky, You’re fired.
Can’t wait to see Amir’s new do!
    Good night!

  10. I was really wondering what Sanja would do and she seems fine
Tomorrow will be the day ❤️

  11. The similarities between the Icelandic and Russian stage acts didn’t go unnoticed by RUV.LOL!

  12. I have just watched the BiH interview on wiwibloggs. Those 4 are fantastic. GOOOO BiH. If only people like you were in charge in Europe.

  13. I have watched Serhat’s interview with wiwiblog guy…He was too kind to the guy that mocked him non-stop and he knew he was mocked by him…but he didn’t take it hard..such a gentleman 😊

    • When it comes to jerk reporters nothing/noone can beat that obnoxious Greek guy from Star channel 4 years ago in Baku and the way he treated Kalliopi. He got what he deserved though.

      • You mean the reply 10 years old give?

        • The whole package. I mean that should be material in schools for journalists under the topic: “This is what journalism is NOT” :P

          • I was referring to Kaliopi. Her answer was silly as well.

            • You must be kidding. It was the most deserved answer that guy could have received.

            • No, I am not kidding. It was immature; an answer you receive from trolls spending endless time in fb etc.

            • We disagree. That guy actually made history. For the first time in the history of interviews, the one who lost his temper was the one taking the interview rather than the one being interviewed.

            • She lost her temper as well…replying with the most banal and stupid answer like a nationalist worked up person. I am not trying to defend the reporter but I come to realize that ESC-related people are incompetent when it comes to discussing politics.

  14. It seems like Australia and Israel were the highlights of day 3.
Serbia delivered what was expected and should face no real trouble qualifying.
Poland is another qualifier, despite me not liking it.
Latvia will most probably qualify but I don’t see it repeating Aminata’s success. It lacks the captivating factor. It should end where Slovenia 15 did.
Belarus stepped up the game and does not feel as hopeless as before. More like #8-14 in semi.
Lithuania was a let down. It feels empty and irrelevant. Still people should NOT write Lithuania off that easily.
FYROM was a borderline case since day 1. She has to really deliver on the BIG night if she wants to qualify.
Ireland should be packing back home already. It was the weakest performance out of 10. Awkward both vocally and on stage.
Switzerland has improved vocally but NOT aesthetically. Song is average at best so it’s still a NQ in my books.
