Eurovision 2016 – With two weeks to go to the contest, daily rehearsals start today and of course the Eurovision Times will do its best to cover them; here’s for the first rehearsals to the first half of semifinal 2: pics and vids will be officially released and we get to discuss, debate, analyze, predict…
So this is how it’ll work for the next 10 days or so: we will resume the system from last year. This is, there’s an article for the day’s rehearsals published the morning (or night before, knowing myself) with the calendar, which you can also find on the official site here. You can comment all day on it, based on all the info you can gather around and as soon as I can, I’ll get working on a recap article with links to pictures, videos, etc. However, I do work and have busy weeks at work ahead of me so I’ll do that at the latest in the evening, sooner if possible, depending. Usually, the girls are down there and as you know, this year ET did not get a pass, so they’ll be following from here and will help publishing any news article.
So we’re all counting on you guys to post in the comment section all the links you find and discuss all material out there. Hope it works out great for everyone, and already a big cheers to all the sites who will post their own made materials (Esckaz, Escxtra, Escinsight and the infamous Esctoday come to mind).

There will therefore be 10 countries getting their first taste of the stage and first impression from it. Not many people compare second half of semi 1 and first half of semi 2, but using the official calendar for this article I noticed patterns: in the exact same order and relative spot from one another, and at the same time schedule to rehearse, we have Montenegro in semi 1, Serbia in semi 2, they’re follow respectively by Iceland (semi 1) and Ireland (semi 2), then by Bosnia (semi 1) so naturally another balkan with Macedonia (semi 2) or, in SVT’s probably delussion, Sweden (semi 1) replaced by Australia (semi 2). They’re supposed to make “a good show” and instead seem to be repeating their own formula, don’t they?
As usual, in first go, countries rarely reveal everything from their staging, definitely not the clothes. But the fans get an idea of what direction the performance is heading towards. Usually, the official site publishes photo sets from rehearsals and a short clip (around 90 seconds) about the artist’s impressions around 40 minutes later. Last year it was not possible for any fan sites to record anything else, so you’ll have to just read what everyone there thought about it without seeing more with your own eyes (and of course hear with your own ears).

Btw, my faves are France, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Montenegro, Ireland, Netherlands and Israel

Germany,Poland,Belarus and San Marino for me
Haha Douwe is my favourite :-) ! Adorable !
Romania, Croatia and BiH for me.
Good choice of avatar, Oxi!
Thank you. I love those sweet little creatures :P
Hovi Star impersonating Ira Losco :P
Probably my most anticipated rehearsal for tomorrow is Bulgaria. We know Jamala and what she can do so I am not too worried. Poli on the other hand is a big fan favourite and I fear it will be a big flop after all is said and done..
Israel wins today’s press poll:
I would have given the victory to Serbia.
This was meant to be an answer to Dimitri’s post.
Me too. The press corps obviously likes sterile ballads too much like Gabriella yesterday. On the other hand, it is obvious that four entries caught their attention and split their vote today, instead of one or two the previous days.
The press corps likes sanitized glossy stuff. ‘I stand’ stands as the best option among said bunch of songs. Serbia is just too much for their glossy view of ESC.
Serbia for me too!
Question of the day? Who will organize the contest, if Australia wins, which is quite possible?
Has it been ruled out that they will host in case they win?
I do not know. I seem to remember that Germany was available to host this year if Australia had won in 2015.
I don’t think Australia is an outsider anymore.
No one is an outsider in ESC; they were invited and they are in. I do not agree with the decision, but I respect it. That said, geographically, they are an outsider; it would be a logistic nightmare.
They don’t have guest status anymore I guess.
I guess. Have to go now. See you all tomorrow.
I’m sure it’s the same as last year.
They’re not active EBU members so practically they’re being invited every year.
Well imagine it for singers, none can perform at 6 am!
Exactly. It has to be a joint venture of some kind.
Well, I suppose the schedule would have been adjusted accordingly, no? :P
42 countries out of 1 outnumber the desire to get the “big night event”
I wouldn’t fancy having ESC in the morning lol. And I don’t think EBU would be ok with it either.
But anyway, here’s to hoping we won’t have to worry about that next year since Australia won’t win… hope dies last.
Me neither. It was just food for thought :P
Its practically impossible for Australia to host. We would have to watch esc on a saturday morning here :-P
I remember watching World Cups and Olympic games at such hours :P
yeah but the whole world took part then, so whatever time, some countries would adjust: Eurovision is European, some people still question Australia in the contest (all of my friends who dont follow esc HATE Australia in this year, when they all found funny they were in last year) and the ONLY countries participating are European, except for Australia, so the contest should be at its historical time in this continent…
I see your point.
I’m epxressing the “common sense” idea, but there are probably good arguments of the contrary, I myself have no personal opinion on the matter ;)
Obviously; Australia is an outsider and cannot expect to host ESC in Australia.
All this talk about Australia hosting scares the shit out of me because I don’t like Dani’s song at all. Btw, if we consider the sterility and clinical precision of AUS16, I suggest to stage ESC in an operating theatre next year in case Australia wins.
Sanitized and sterile environment. Everyone must sing contemporary songs about nothing. :D
With backings dressed as nurses …
And maybe serve bland hospital food to go with the blandness of Australia’s entry…
… and hand out musical sleeping pills to everyone …
They can host it in a neutral area i.e Luxembourg!
Andorra <3
At least I am allowed to post hearts.
Or Antarctica. After Australia, it will be the ESC’s new frontier. “I am in love with an Adélie penguin” will be their debut entry in the contest.
ROFL
Test :)
Nope I had to approve it sorry
*sigh*
Poli will be dancing! Here you can watch her rehearsing part of her dance routine:
