Estonia – The public broadcaster of Estonia, ERR, this week announced that Eesti Laul will again be the process for selecting Estonia’s representative for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The deadline for submissions is November 2nd rather than the usual later date of early December.
The executive producer of Eesti Laul 2016, Mart Normet said that this was to enable more radio airplay for the songs and gives more time for us, as well as for the artists to work more thoroughly on the live presentation.
The Eesti Laul 2016 final will take place on 5th March in Tallinn. Tickets for the final will be released by the end of October.
Estonia finished a respectable 7th last year with Elina Born & Stig Rästa singing ‘Goodbye to Yesterday‘. Estonia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 21 times since making its debut in 1994. Its best result was when it won the contest with Tanel Padar/Dave Benton/2XL in 2001 with the song ‘Everybody‘.
