Denmark: Will Select February 13th

DenmarkDenmark – Nationa Broadcater DR will again choose its representative via Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.  The final will take place on 13th February 2016 in Horsens’ Forum. Horsens has a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 people.

Song writers and composers can send in songs until 7 September 2015, and tickets for the show will go on sale on 2nd November 2015.

Denmark has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 44 times since its debut in 1957. Having competed in ten consecutive contests until 1966, Denmark was absent for eleven consecutive contests from 1967-1977. Since 1978, they have been absent from only four contests.

Denmark has won the contest three times in 1963 with Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann singing ‘Dansevise‘, in 2000 with Olsen Brothers singing ‘Fly on the Wings of Love‘ and more recently in 2013 with Emmelie de Forest singing ‘Only Teardrops‘.

  1. I hope Anders’s entry topples “Dansevise” as my all time fav Danish entry :)
    Good luck Danmark!
    The Anders FTW!!!

  2. Good luck Denmark!I’m looking forward to the national finals season.I hope DMGP will be much better than last year though which i thought was the worst danish final in years.

  3. Held og lykke til vores kære naboer!

Must of you know that I’ve not been a fan of what Denmark has sent the last seven years. “All night long” is the latest song I liked. The positive thing could be though that I’ve not really hated any of their recent songs either (the closest one is probably 2009 which isn’t really bad, just annoyingly boring). So I hope for a return to what DMGP was in the mid-90’s. Marc and I reviewed DMGP 1996 together and one can easily say it was more interesting back then. For various reasons…

    My Danish Top 10:

    1. Dansevise
    2. Fra Mols til Skagen
    3. Skibet skal sejle i nat
    4. Vi maler byen rød
    5. For din skyld
    6. Ka’ du se hva’ jeg sa’
    7. Never ever let you go
    8. Tænker altid på dig
    9. Talking to you
    10. Det’ lige det

  4. I would also like to say that “Dansevise” probably has one of my favourite Eurovision intros of all time. The others are Switzerland 1962, Portugal 1990 (weak song overall but I love the intro) and B&H 2006.
