ETSC 4: Discover the Draw!

ETSC August 2015ETSC – Every year, the summer is the calm after the storm so it’s the perfect time to resume the highly anticipated the Eurovision Times Song Contest! 45 of you entered for the August 2015 edition and a random draw was made today! Discover the draw now and the songs!

Each summer, a good number of regular readers stay around for different reasons (they don’t get breaks from work or don’t go on holidays…) but there aren’t much news to keep us going. So the last few years we introduced all sort of games. The Eurovision Times Awards (Fridas) and the Douze Points Trivia Quiz kept us going in 2013 and Fridas have made come-backs the past two years. Last year, a lot of you asked for a fake Eurovision where each one of us would send songs and get to vote. And that was it: the Eurovision Times Song Contest, from then on known as ETSC.

We had three editions, two last year: July 2014 and August 2014, both won by France. The third edition was held last month and was won by Laura by Bat for Lashes from the United-Kingdom, sent by Marc P. To learn more, you can discover our new page dedicated to the contest, with its history, all songs participating and the rankings here. You can also find it by clicking on the “Specials” section of the site, in the top menu in the red box, just under the site’s name. Now on to the next edition:

ETSC August 2015

After a first round open for people to sign up with a country and send a song, we got 45 people in, most everyone returned (a special nod to you Mario) with some newbies again, like Daniel or Jasmin! Hopefully, they’ll make appearances in comments. But also some people who returned from last summer (Sedapsi, William). And a few of our new regulars joined (Bay, Cyphermusic, Ren…). Songs will be revealed Saturday night. In the meantime, to keep us busy, I made a random draw with my computer. I also made personal postcards for each entry which will be revealed along with the songs. Everyone can request to see their own postcards for now.

Does the draw really matter? Maybe so, after all #1 and #12 spots both got Top 3 in the first two editions! In ETSC 1 France won going as #12 while Norway was runner-up going as #1. In ETSC 2 the United-Kingdom went as #12 to achieve second place and Bosnia & Herezgovina finished 3rd going first! But in an online game, people get to listen multiple times to the songs, and in any order they want. So it’s quite possible to say that the draw is more of a gimmick than a true influence on the results.

So here’s the draw:

  1. Lithuania (Marc P)
  2. Israel (Dimitri)
  3. Austria (Daniel)
  4. Croatia (Max)

  1. I am so excited. It feels as if tmr we are having an ESC final :p

  2. 38 for Portugal, another late draw for the country of fado. Sorry to say that that’s not a hint about our song. In fact, it’s nothing like that. :P

  3. Not a bad draw :)

Glad to participate at the end and hope to enjoy the songs tomorrow.

  4. Mine just depends on the type of songs around it to be honest.

  5. I seem to always be put in the middle somewhere. :)

But I do both believe and hope that the running order is quite unimportant for the final results.

  6. First time I get a draw in the second half!
I was kinda getting used to my early draws (slots #1,2 and 8 in previous editions :P)

  7. Friday is the day…even better than the final :)
I am so happy for not missing it 😎

    #GoTurkey
    #GoEverySongIWillLike😊

  8. Im doing the last postcards. Did I forget to send you yours or maybe I havent done it yet (Albania and Slovakia were requested but need to be redone). Anyone else?

Anyway, tomorrow it’s gonna be around 22:00 CET again but might start earlier considering we have even more songs this time. So, be here around an hour earlier if you can.

  9. As long as I’m in the top 24 I’ll be happy! Wishing everyone luck tomorrow, and especially my entry from Azerbaijan.
