ETSC 3: Discover the Draw!

ETSC July 2015ETSC – Every year, the summer is the calm after the storm so it’s the perfect time to resume the highly anticipated the Eurovision Times Song Contest! 42 of you entered for the July 2015 edition and a random draw was made tonight! Discover the draw now and the songs Frida!

Each summer, a good number of regular readers stay around for different reasons (they don’t get breaks from work or don’t go on holidays…) but there aren’t much news to keep us going. So the last few years we introduced all sort of games. The Eurovision Times Awards (Fridas) and the Douze Points Trivia Quiz kept us going in 2013 and Fridas have made come-backs the past two years. Last year, a lot of you asked for a fake Eurovision where each one of us would send songs and get to vote. And that wasit: the Eurovision Times Song Contest, from then on known as ETSC.

We had two editions, July 2014 and August 2014. Since I’m French, the first edition was held in Cannes, where France held their first Eurovisions after winning (1959 and 1961). Since France won the first edition for France with Saint Claude by Christine and the Queens, the second edition was held in Paris. France won again the second edition with Where I Want To Be (California) by Lilly Wood & The Prick. So the third edition will be held in La Rochelle, home of one of the best Summer music festivals in France. Here’s the logo:

After a first round open for people to sign up with a country and send a song, we got 42 people in, with some newbies again. Hopefully, they’ll make appearances in comments. But also some people who returned from last summer. Songs will be revealed Friday night. In the meantime, to keep us busy, I made a random draw with my computer. I also made personal postcards for each entry which will be revealed along with the songs. Everyone can request to see their own postcards for now.

Does the draw really matter? Maybe so, after all #1 and #12 spots both got Top 3 in the first two editions! In ETSC 1 France won going as #12 while Norway was runner-up going as #1. In ETSC 2 the United-Kingdom went as #12 to achieve second place and Bosnia & Herezgovina finished 3rd going first! But in an online game, people get to listen multiple times to the songs, and in any order they want. So it’s quite possible to say that the draw is more of a gimmick than a true influence on the results.

So here’s the draw:
