ET Awards 2015: Best Entry!

Eurovision Times Awards 2015Eurovision 2015 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we conclude the polls with the two categories focused on top entries!

2015 will be the second year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here and the 2014’s ones here). As with the past couple of years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The last award is in the “Result” category and it’s “Best Entry”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 10 Latvia
  • 9 Belgium
  • 7 Norway
  • 6 Italy
  • 3 Estonia
  • 3 Sweden
  • 2 Israel
  • 2 Slovenia
  • 1 Austria
  • 1 Georgia
  • 1 Serbia

However, it’s down to the staff of Eurovision Times to choose the official nominees and it was difficult since there were so many different arguments for so many entries. As the most important award of them all, we decided, like in oscars, to have more nominees in this category but after 7 in 2013 and 8 in 2014, it’ll be only 6 entries to be nominated (the contest’s top 8 except for Russia and Australia, both nominated in “Most Overrated”). Now, it’s up to you to vote in our poll below! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song with the live eurovision performance. The nominees in alphabetical order are:

Belgium

This is its 10th nomination; it finished 4th in Eurovision with 217pts

Estonia

This is its 6th nomination; it finished 7th in Eurovision with 106pts

Italy

This is its 4th nomination; it finished 3rd in Eurovision with 292pts

Latvia

This is its 8th nomination; it finished 6th in Eurovision with 186pts

Norway

This is its 9th nomination; it finished 8th in Eurovision with 102pts

Sweden

This is its 7th nomination; it finished 1st in Eurovision with 365pts

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat! Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  8. I’ve come to realize this is a year that i really like some songs but i’m not crazy in love with any of them.I’ll vote for Latvia because it’s distinctive, artistically intriguing and with a live performance that really boosts the song.

  9. Off-Topic: Måns Zelmerlöw with a “three-dimensional” stick figure.

  10. Offtopic: American youtube channel watchmojo posts their top 10 esc songs, with obviously only modern winners or classics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1ZNK2Q5cKw

  11. There are two outstanding songs in 2015, imo: Belgium and Latvia. Voted for Belgium.

  12. Either Belgium or Latvia should win this one.
