ET Awards 2015: Best National Final!

Eurovision Times Awards 2015Eurovision 2015 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on broadcasters’ choices!

2015 will be the second year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here and the 2014’s ones here). As with the past couple of years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The thirteenth award is in the “Delegation” category and it’s “Best National Final”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 11 Latvia
  • 11 Sweden
  • 5 Germany
  • 5 Norway
  • 3 Estonia
  • 2 Austria
  • 2 Hungary
  • 1 Finland
  • 1 Iceland
  • 1 Slovenia

However, it’s down to the staff of Eurovision Times to choose the official nominees. But it’s up to you to vote in our poll below which entry had the best national final this year! The nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Estonia‘s Eesti Laul

  • Germany‘s Unser Song für Österreich

  • Latvia‘s Supernova

  • Norway‘s Melodi Grand Prix

  • Sweden‘s Melodifestivalen

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration if you really watched seriously national finals and do not vote necessarly for your favorite song but vote regarding to the category. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  1. For fairness, I won’t say for which I have voted!

  2. Who nominated Finland? This is for the 2015 contest, not 2014. :P Anyway, voted for Estonia but I was the one who nominated Iceland.

    • I’m with you, the Icelandic NF song wise was imo one of the top 5 and I’m weirded out by how little nomination Iceland got in the end: but the horrible top 2 there (2 of the worst 3 of the whole nf with “girls and boys”), the fact they went in English in the final, the poor esc result all probably made people overlook it!

      • Yeah, it’s a shame. Still, Estonia deserves to win this for its song quality, easily up there with the best this year, although I think Latvia will win as a reward for changing formats.

    • The Icelandic 2014 NF was better, imo.

  3. I voted for Supernova just for the sake of “Nefelibata” <3

  4. I voted for MF!It was a good year for the show.I really liked several songs even though many of them didn’t make it to the final.Germany for yet another yeat had a promising and varied selection of songs but most of them didn’t work live.I also think their voting system is wrong. It was an okish but not a very good year for Eesti Laul.Latvia made a great revamp to their Supernova selection and perhaps they should be rewarded for it.Norway was ok but it was far from being a great year for MGP.

  5. Supernova was the best NF by far, imo.

  6. My vote went to the NF with the best bunch of songs = Unser Song für Österreich

  7. An easy one for me. Supernova had the two best songs of the NF season, and one of them got Latvia their first qualification in seven years, and their best result in the final in a decade.

  8. A tough one. Many good choices, even if I personally would replace Norway with Iceland. In the end, I think I’ll go for Latvia who really made a total makeover of their NF with a great result following from that.

  9. Supernova was good, especially the songs that reached the final.
Eesti laul was a bit dissapointing this year imo..
MGP had 3-4 songs I liked but last year it was better imo.
Anyway I vote for MF. Rarely fails to deliver and stood out in a year of less than stellar nfs.

  10. I chose Germany because of Laing. :-)

  11. Had to be predictable and vote Melfest. What can I say?? It’s my spirit NF.

If Söngvakeppnin had been nominated though, I would have had to do some serious thinking. Iceland’s game was strong this year. Shame it didn’t work out in the end though (the lesson = ALWAYS PICK SUNDAY).

  12. Easily Supernova. Shows the power of a good revamp.
