ET Awards 2015: Best Male Style!

Eurovision Times Awards 2015Eurovision 2015 – This year we resume the “Eurovision Times Awards” to give prizes (the Fridas) for the best in every category! And you get to vote! Today, we resume the polls with the two categories focused on style!

2015 will be the second year for Eurovision Times to organize a new contest (you can check 2013’s results here and the 2014’s ones here). As with the past couple of years, our blog hosts now two contests: TEKO which takes place before the contest and the “Eurovision Times Awards” after the contest. The principle of the ET Awards is simple, in each categories, the staff of this website will nominate a few entries per categories and open polls for the public to vote in them so we can reveal afterwards all the winners. The winners recieve an imaginary trophee, entitled the Fridas in hommage to Frida Boccara, the French Eurovision winner in 1969 with “Un jour, un enfant“.

The eighth award is in the “Artistic” category and it’s “Best Male Style”. Here are the results of the recommendations made by the regular users of Eurovision Times in this category:

  • 13 Belgium
  • 7 Italy
  • 6 Sweden
  • 4 Norway
  • 3 Australia
  • 3 Lithuania
  • 2 Azerbaijan
  • 2 Cyprus
  • 2 Czech Republic
  • 1 Denmark
  • 1 Israel

However, it’s down to the staff of Eurovision Times to choose the official nominees. But it’s up to you to vote in our poll below which entry had the best male style this year! You need to click on the country’s name to be redirected to the video of the song. The nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Azerbaijan‘s Elnur Huseynov at the Grand Final

  • Belgium‘s Loïc Nottet at the Grand Final

  • Italy‘s Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble at the Grand Final

  • Norway‘s Mørland at the Grand Final

  • Sweden‘s Måns Zelmerlöw at the Grand Final

Rules: the polls will be open for a week. At the end of the week, an article will announce the winner of the category but not the detailed results. The full results will however be given to you once all polls are closed so that you don’t get influenced (we never know) in your following votes. Every IP gets only one vote, please do not cheat, do take in consideration to watch very careful to the style before voting and do not vote necessarly for your favorite song but vote regarding to the category. Of course, it’s pointless to vote only for your own country unless you’re really certain it should win. May the best win!

  1. For fairness, I won’t say for which I have voted!

  2. Another cruel category, Cyprus v. Italy, Lithuania v. Azerbaijan had me scratching my head…

  3. Voted for Belgium. Il Volo looked fine too but me personally think they needed bowties.

  4. I nominated Australia.
I voted for Norway although I think the outfit didn’t suit the mood of the song!

  5. Azerbaijan?!!!

  6. I miss Stig … voted for sb else. :)

    • I really liked Stig too, it’s hard to narrow it down to 5 and I try to have all styles represented, and Stig in the casual look + suit was against Norway and Lithuania…

  7. And Cyprus was better than Italy in this category imo … as in every other category. :)
I still don’t get the fuss about Il Volo. Everything about Italy 2015 is so … frumpish.

    • I might like Cyprus more than Italy in the category too. But the recommendations were 7 to Italy to only 2 to Cyprus, and these are called ET Awards and I try to keep ET’s regular readers represented well!

      • I don’t have any problem with being overruled. In fact, I am used to being part of the minority … :)

  8. Italy!Belgium was very stylish too.Mans’ leather pants were really tasteless, imo.

  9. I am torn between Belgium and Sweden..Loic served 2015 style while Mans was as simple as it gets but effective and sexy imo.

    hmmm..I vote for Loic.

On the others : Italy was predictable (Piero looks cute in anything though), Norway..meh..Morland can dress better..Azerbaijan ? I don’t even know why Elnur is nominated here.

  10. And Måns’ pants should now be in the Eurovision Pants Hall of Fame; together with Kølig Kaj’s and Oscar Loya’s. ;)

And maybe Kenneth McKellar too. He made some women in the audience gasp and that’s always something.

  11. Il Volo got my vote.

  12. A new single and video by il Volo:

  13. I love those Armani suits. Italy has my vote.

  14. Belgium and Norway for me. Both are gorgeous, but of course I must pick one… :-(

Wish we could’ve made room for Stig, John and Vaclav. This year had a lot of good looking men. ;-)

  15. I voted for Belgium, although Azerbaijan and Sweden were very good as well.

Mørland’s outfit was bit a over-stylised (and the white didn’t really suit the song) and Italy’s suits were a little trite (much like the song).

  16. I voted for Azerbaijan, but the male styles weren’t great this year. Belgium looked alright, but the suit wasn’t fitted incredibly well. Sweden looked alright but relied too much on sex appeal. Morland sucked. And Italy was exactly as expected but nothing noteworthy.

  17. Where is Stig? Anw,, Belgium…

  18. Loic wore a black coat and a red-striped shirt. As much as I liked his entry, there was nothing stylish about him.

Azerbaijan should have been nominated for worst male style of the year.

  19. And where is Australia? He really was efortlessly cool and deserved a nomination.

  20. […] can click here to look at the full recommendations and nominations from last week’s article! There were 44 recommendations for 11 countries in the first round and 157 votes were cashed in an […]
