San Marino: Eurovision Party

Michele Perniola and Anita SimonciniSan Marino – Tonight SMTV and Anita and Michele invited accredited press and fans to their Eurovision party at the Ottakranger Brewary. They were joined by two of The Peppermints who represented San Marino at JESC in 2014

There was a good turn out at the party with most people coming to see the Euroclub for the first time. When I arrived at 20:00 Anita was already mingling with the fans that came in along with her band mates Greta Doveri and Sara Dall’Olio of The Peppermints. The Peppermints are still together as a group and have an album coming out later in the year.

Michele didn’t seem to be around at the start but when the men started to pile in I probably just couldn’t see him. In  stroke of genius which k for one am extremely grateful for is the mini Pizzeria they brought with them. It was damn nice Pizza, I wish Staysmann and Lazz had won NMGP.

Michele Perniola performed a set first of all where he sung songs from Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars. See below the videos I filmed of Michele performing with Queens Superband.

“Billie Jean” Michael Jackson/“Get Lucky” Daft Punk:

“Locked out of Heaven” Bruno Mars:

So that Michele could break after his 30 minute set, Anita Simoncini sang “Jar of Hearts” by Christina Perri and “Try” by Pink before her Peppermint buddies coming on stage to each perform a song with Sara performing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston and Greta performing “I Am Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson

Ralph Seigel was in attendance and could be seen dancing on the side lines and watched as Anita and Michele sang their Eurovision Entry “Chain of Lights”

Finally Michele was left to his own devices again when he performed his entry from JESC 2013 “O-o-O Sole Intorno a Me”

You can also take some pictures from throughout the night in the little slideshow below…

  1. Thanks for covering that Jade! Good to see that San Marino have some real young talent coming through. I hope to see Michele representing San Marino solo one day with a song that suits him!

  2. It is definitely worth watching the Videos of Michele performing – he was really good and not at all what I expected him to be like on stage

If they sent him solo doing that Bruno Mars kind of song, San Marino would actually be cool and not a stiff country in ESC. They clearly have the young talent there.

Greta had a very good voice indeed as well

  3. I’d really like to see Anita and/or Michele return to ESC once they have matured into adult artists. Good luck!

    • I think Michele is ready-made as he is now. He really impressed me last night but if they keep Siegel it will always be a losing battle

      • I have just watched the Sammarinese rehearsal and was really surprised by Michele’s solid vocals. Anita isn’t quite there yet.

  4. San Marino should have a serious conversation with you know who: “Thank you, Mr. Siegel, but now it’s time to say goodbye.”
