Eurovision 2015: Press Voting Open. First results

vienna eurovision 2015Eurovision 2015 – The first round of voting has started today within the press centre. Fans and Press have been asked to select ten songs from each semi they feel will qualify to the final and there are some surprises here for me anyway. Let us know what you think

Semi Final One
The surprise here is that despite a great first impression of Armenia, the press centre don’t think Armenia can qualify to Semi Final. More people think that Belarus has more of a chance to qualify than even Hungary.
On top side of the scale the Top 3 are Russia, Estonia and Belgium respectively. See the full scoreboard below

Semi 1

Semi Final Two
Sweden and Azerbaijan are very close at the top of the board for Semi Final Two. Portugal have the lowest amount of votes and even Lithuania looks set to go home early according the press. The Czech Republic who were never really seen as competition seems to be up there also.

  1. I hope Cyprus proves wrong those voting in this poll.

  2. Let’s remind us that the eurovision press are merely fans with a press accreditation. (I am so jealous. Would love to meet Benjamin.)

    • LOL. Israel 2014 second in its semi. Yeah, this is just a few fans’ wishful thinking. Nothing else.

  3. Update on SF1 Fan Voting… out of 153 voters

    Russia 134
    Estonia 130
    Belgium 122
    Greece 120
    Serbia 117
    Georgia 109
    Romania 104
    Belarus 86
    Armenia 86
    Albania 85

    Netherlands 84
    Denmark 82
    Moldova 81
    Hungary 66
    FYROM 62
    Finland 62

  4. […] press voting has begun and you can read about that here. Being able to watch all SF1 rehearsals in one day really makes it easier to tell who should […]

  5. It seems that the more shiny and polished the acts are, the more poppular they get. :( Oh well, that is the lay of the land, I guess.

    • ESC has now evolved. Which is why the UK really needs to get in touch with reality and catch up with the rest of the countries. Those times when a song and vocal performance alone can win are over. Presentation and creativity is very important in today’s age.

      • ESC has indeed evolved, but the song and the live singing are still pivotal. The staging helps or hinders the song’s chances. It’s all a question of finding the right balance.

  6. i think they’re quite wrong indeed

  7. Last year the press thought Israel had a big chance to qualify. Well they were wrong. So I got my fingers crossed that they do this year. At the end of the day, its the juries and the viewers who decide. Which song/performance moves them more..

  8. Really hope Molly qualifies – she deserves it. The camera work is vital and they need to focus on her much more. She also needs to engage with the camera. Please place the backing singers as far away as possible from her. They add nothing visually and take from the presentation, which otherwise is lovely.
