Eurovision 2015: Day 1 in the Press Centre!

eurovision trophyEurovision 2015The Eurovision Times team has arrived in Vienna and were in the press centre to hear the opening comments at 4pm. The centre is wonderfully set up and Vienna looks like its going to be a really great year! Here’s some of the images to give you a feel of what there is there…

On the walk up to the stadium, which is situated in sight of and only 3 minutes walk from the tram/subway stop, you get to see that there is some sort of Parks Eurovision contest underway…

The venue is decked out in huge Eurovision livery and security was efficient and fast to get through.

The press centre is huge, with amazing screens, and beautiful pictures of Austria adorning the walls. The wifi works brilliantly and tea / coffee/ juice and nibbles are available for free to keep us going.

There’s also a chill out area where you can go and put on calming sounds or pop music…

..and there’s even a roulette table!

Commercial Director of ORF, Richard Grasl, the Managing Director of Austria Tourism Petra Stolba and the Managing Director of the Vienna Tourist Board Norbert Kettner spoke at the opening of the press center. Austria is really treating us well and are passionate about showing us how amazing their country is.

We’ve caught up already with friends and colleagues from Wiwibloggs, ESCInsight, ESC United, EscKaz, Eurovision Ireland and W12P. Jane has already done a TV interview with ORF, and hulluna took part in the inaugural ESC Insight podcast of this year.

The goody bag was absolutely stuffed with freebies including:

Books and leaflets, invites to events, free swimming card, facepacks, sim cards, shoe shiners, a travel pack, a gadget to fix your phone to your cycle for following google maps! a usb stick, pens and pencils, a fan, the media handbook and an official programme, sausages! and the Vienna Pass which gets us into all sorts of museums and on the city tour buses for free.

We’ve also had the chance to sign up to amazing trips for free and we’ll be going on a cruise down the River Danube, to the opera and to the ballet whilst we’re here this week!

We’ll be bringing you more news and gossip from the press centre tomorrow, as well as our thoughts on the first look at the rehearsals. (If Jade manages to watch Loic without self-combusting)
