Belgium: Meet Loïc Nottet

Loic NottetBelgium – It is again turn of RTBF to head the Belgian entry this year and they internally selected Loïc Nottet. Loïc will be performing his song “Rhythm Inside” in the first semi final on May 19th. The last time RTBF took charge Belgium reached the final. Can Loïc do the same?

Composers: Loïc Nottet, Beverly Jo Scott

About Loïc Nottet:
Only at the start of his career, Nineteen year old Loïc was born in Wallonia, Belgium and made his name when he came second place in The Voice Belgique in 2014. He was coached by singer BJ Scott who helped him compose his Eurovision Song. Loïc is also a dancer and writes poetry in his spare time as well as the song writing which go hand in hand.

Loïc Nottet was internally chosen by RTBF following Roberto Bellarosa who succeeded in reaching the final for Belgium back in 2013. The two artists, though very different in sound and vision, are both from The Voice and of young age. Will this formula work again? Belgium are currently tied 10th favourite to win along with Iceland, Spain, Albania and the United Kingdom.

Lyrics:
(Taken from eurovision.tv)

Listen to the sound of thunder
Rolling in the soul down under
Far beneath the skin, it rumbles
Step to the step of the drum that rolls inside
Be you enemy or lover
We are put here to discover
The heart that beats within each other
We gonna rapppabab tonight

And if we die , tomorrow
What’ll we have to show
For the wicked ways
Down below
The rhythm inside is telling us
We can fly tomorrow
On the beautiful wind that blows
On a cosmic track, love attack
I‘m gonna get that rhythm back

Be you enemy or brother
We were put here to discover
The heart that beats within each other
We’re gonna rompanpan …

And if we die, tomorrow
What’ll we have to show
For the wicked ways
Down below
The rhythm inside is telling us
We can fly tomorrow
On the beautiful wind that blows
On a cosmic track, love attack
I‘m gonna get that rhythm back

  1. Yes I purposely did Belgium last. This is the last of them.

Doing this I noticed his odds have gone slightly up after last nights live TV performance

  2. this one has grown on me since the amazing performance. it might just be me but i can see this win somehow.

  3. I am putting 10 euros on Belgium’s win this May.
I mean u do get back 400 in case they win . It’s worth the pain ;)

  4. I hope it will be in the final. I don’t think it can win – it is not catchy enough – but a place in the top 10 is within reach.

A good song with some fine r&b elements, even if the echoes of Lorde (not Lordi) are very present – but she was not the first to perform that kind of music either. There are echoes of Michael Jackson as well.

The vocals tend to be enervating sometimes, but there are many fine elements in the vocal performance.

  5. He is pale as a corpse, but he has an interesting light voice that sounds almost like a girl here and there (yes, I thought it was a girl co-singing the chorus with him the first time I heard it). And the song is cool, mysterious sort of. Nothing great, but since we don’t have anything great this year, it’s up in top 5 anyway. Good luck!

  6. Another video teaser of the Dance Version of his music video
